I disagree. I was hopeful that this would die tonight, but this goes to amendment. The senate must invoke cloture again to get to a vote. I do not think that they have the votes to do so. Reconciliation is a head fake, they won’t do it because it is a parlimentary nightmare. In the long run, this forces everyone to take a look at this bill, and may aid in the slaughter of commies in 2010. There are multiple D senators who will not invoke cloture with a public option, so I think there is more than a reasonable chance this does not get any further. Harry Reid’s press conference only supported my contention...

What was in Reid’s press that you thought was supportive?

Reid and the press have been spouting all along that this would not be passed this year but here it is. Why go through these motions if it is futile?

My take is there will be some sort of public option that is restricted but is expandable in the years ahead. That’s the way the statists always work it, start small and benign, and later metastacize.
