Yeah, but back then, the founding fathers ONLY had to worry about the enemy without. The enemy within has now taken over and is driving us over the cliff at warp speed, all in the name of grabbing communist-style power. The founding fathers would have been stunned if they had had to deal with what we’re facing. There probably are no words for what they would have thought about what’s going on now.
It isn't over yet.

There are tons of great books on the Philadelphia Convention of 1787 and lots on Madison’s notes taken during the convention. I think you would be stunned at what they faced that summer.
Among the attendees there were monarchists, most were against pure democracy and “settled”
for the electoral college compromise, slavery was guaranteed in the final draft as a compromise with the south, there were various levels of mindsets that would later be defined as socialist and on and on. There were LOTS of enemies within. Damn near every delegation at the convention wanted to punch members of other state delegations in the face and probably would have if Washington wasn’t in the room.
There were just as many differing opinions and nasty political battles then as there are now. Human nature has been amazingly static when it comes to politics since the earliest comprehensive political history books that we have such as Titus Livius’ writings regarding the early History of Rome.
