Climategate: how the MSM reported the greatest scandal in modern science
Telegraph UK ^ | Nov 21, 2009 | James Delingpole

Posted on 11/21/2009 5:31:48 AM PST by PapaBear3625

Like the Telegraph’s MPs’ expenses scandal, this is the gift that goes on giving. It won’t, unfortunately, derail Copenhagen (too many vested interests involved) or cause any of our many political parties to start talking sense on “Climate change”. But what it does demonstrate is the growing level of public scepticism towards Al Gore’s Anthropogenic Global Warming theory. That’s why, for example, this story is the single most read item on today’s Telegraph website.

[...]

But in the case of “Climate Change”, the MSM has been caught with its trousers down. The reason it has been so ill-equipped to report on this scandal is because almost all of its Environmental Correspondents and Environmental Editors are parti pris members of the Climate-Fear Promotion lobby. Most of their contacts (and information sources) work for biased lobby groups like Greenpeace and the WWF, or conspicuously pro-AGW government departments and Quangos such as the Carbon Trust. How can they bring themselves to report on skullduggery at Hadley Centre when the scientists involved are the very ones whose work they have done most to champion and whose pro-AGW views they share?

“Climategate: how the MSM reported the greatest scandal in modern science”

would more accurately read

“Climategate: how the MSM enabled and promoted the greatest scandal in modern science”

Hah. In the 1970’s Time, Newsweak, et al were trumpeting “global cooling”. A new ice age was surely upon us. They haven’t been right on too much since.

I’m curious if anyone knows whether or not they were promoting the Ice Age based on Solar cycles or man made pollution?

That would be interesting to know.

Third, their computer models are written so as to predict that as temperatures warm, there’s net positive feedback, meaning temperatures rise even faster. That’s why there’s talk of “tipping points”. However, since in the past temperatures have been warmer and then cooled back down, the feedback is almost certainly negative instead.

The global warming alarmists keep saying that increased CO2 increases temperatures, which increases water vapor (another greenhouse gas) and all this greenhouse gas will trap heat on the surface in a positive-feedback effect.

One of the bigger negative-feedback mechanisms are hurricanes. When things are cooler (like the hurricane season just ending), there are few hurricanes. When warmer, there are lots. The operation of the hurricane results in HUGE amounts of heat being sucked out of warm tropical oceans and transported several miles up to the top of the hurricane, above the "greenhouse gas" layer, where it can be radiated out to space.

Increased humidity will also result in increased snowfall near the polar regions, increasing reflection of sunlight back into space

[[The Ada (Oklahoma) Evening News quotes Inhofe: “So when Barbara Boxer, John Kerry and all the left get up there and say, ‘Yes. We’re going to pass a global warming bill,’ I will be able to stand up and say, ‘No, it’s over. Get a life. You lost. I won,’” Inhofe said.]]

This is precisely why we’re losing hte battle- all Inhoffe could say in essence was’Nanna-Nanna-Boo-Boo, We win and you lose”? Good golly! I applaud his effort to present the truth, but doing victory dances with an attitude liek that is precisely why we’re not makign much progress agaisnt the global wamring advocates

Nice list back in #14. I think you can add the following items to it:

- Political pressure applied to researchers to generate data that shows warming

- Collusion and intervention in other organizations to get people whose viewpoint they disagreed with fired

I agree with you that this will take off.

It’s an incredible amount of information and hopelessly tangled. A lot of it is technogarble.

If I were a member of the media I’d have my very best people getting in touch with the top ten climatologists/GW skeptics. I’d sit on this for a week while we got the story right and were able to present this to the public in a way that’s easy to understand.

I think I still have my copy somewhere, it came to mind a while back when discussing Obama and his campaign, now, it fits almost every Liberal agenda item.

from article:

the Royal Society, the US National Academy of Sciences, Nasa and the world’s leading atmospheric scientists are not the agents of a clandestine global movement against the truth.

George Soros is one of the manipulators of NASA Scientist from:2007 James Hansen: Global Warming Scientist for Hire

Well it has recently come to light via Investor’s Business Daily that James Hansen was not only funded by NASA, but that he had received up to $720,000 from George Soros’ Open Society Institute most likely under their “politicization of science” program. An irony under the circumstances to say the least.

So here we find out that George Soros paid up to $720,000 to have James Hansen go out and publicly evangelize about Global Warming. James Hansen: Global Warming Scientist for Hire!

Question is, where do we go from here?

Do we try all these individuals?

Do we go after their money sources? (I like this idea)

Do we just let public outrage roll against these thieves and their *opinions*?

This is how environmental reporters - indeed, reporters in general - work. Get a few key sources, use them for quotes or stories all the time. Result: lazy, biased news reporting.
Yes, a reporter's career is based on cultivating good sources over the years, people who will tell him what's going on and why. Of course, if the reporter wants to KEEP the source, he won't tell the READERS what's really going on, he will tell them what his most valuable sources WANT him to say. If the reporter is smart enough to avoid too-obvious insider trading, his access can be VERY lucrative, whether directly or by passing info along to other people who would be suitably grateful.

Look at CNN in Iraq under Sadaam, or Duranty of the NY Times "reporting" about the USSR under Stalin. They reported what they were told, without regard for truth, in order to maintain their "access". The reporter is in the business of selling newspapers, not telling the truth. Their business model depends on their readers never figuring this out.

hehehhehehehe :-) “Climategate!” Yet another Leftard lie exposed! This hit may not destroy the SS Global Warming, but it certainly has blown one hellva big hole in the side of the ship.

BTW, has anyone noticed that Rightists are playing the same sort of games the Leftards used to play against our side? ACORN live on videotape was the last episode.

Turn about is fair play, say I.

I am growing real tired of seeing the Hopenhagen commercial promoting climate change and Obama NWO communism with sappy music and lies. Was our taxpaying money used to make this commercial?

Sorry for my late reply. I have been out all morning.

Thank you for your time and research. It has been fascinating reading.

Overall, it just reaffirms how lucky I am living in the Republic of Panama all these years. Panama’s economy is expected to grow 5 pct in 2010 in spite of all the crooks around the world.

An aside and on another subject, I spend sleepless nights worrying about my country the United States. What happened to today’s Washington crossing the Delaware River? Nothing. Nobody is at home. It is all talk today.

Fox just had a segment on Copenhagen, climate change and Al Gore. No mention of the e-mails. I wonder what they are afraid of or who is controlling the story.
