Army officials plan to prevent media from covering Sarah Palin's appearance at Fort Bragg on Monday, saying they fear the event will turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama.
Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press on Thursday that Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book promotion at the North Carolina base.

McCollum said the Army did not want the event to become a platform for Palin supporters to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."

This book signing is to benefit the survivors and their
families, do these people think Sarah is so clueless
and cruel as to use this for her own political ends?
More projection from the Usurper in chief.
Hello EVERY AMERICAN, can you not see the
wrongness of this manipulation!!!

At the pointy end of the business, there is only silence. A good thing.

THANK U!! Post of the day!
But But, you gotta be politically correct when your dealing with Muslims, especially muslims carrying SOA cards around, but when your Sarah Palin, standing up for our military and for our Constitution, yeah that’s considered a bad thing

Sure - good luck with that. Members of the military are not to oppose the CIC, but others absolutely can. And should, according to “dissent is patriotic” Hilary Clinton. Looks like the obama camp continues to be frightened of Sarah. :)

Exactly.
A muslim terrorist has more rights and freedoms on an Army facility than an American patriot.

I guess they don’t know the media will edit that stuff out and do everything in their power to hide it.

“There are Army regulations that basically prohibit military reservations from becoming political platforms by politicians.”
Yeah we wouldn’t want someone using our military for a “photo op” now, would we?
I’ll bet this order came from way up high. Someone doesn’t want to be upstaged by our military showing unsolicited enthusiasm for Sarah Palin.

It's hard to blame the brass. They're between Barack and a hard place.Sad but true.
On the other hand, under extreme pressure, when all seems hopeless, is when character counts.
I have known many Marines, Air Force, Army and Navy types.
I'm not in the least worried.

I think you guys are reading this wrong.
They are NOT saying the troops can’t express their anti-Obama sentiments. They’re saying they don’t want the press reporting it.
The brass is protecting their soldiers from retaliation by the administration.

In a way, this Army "leadership" decision stinks of a Berlin Wall style scenario.
The "leadership" have constructed a barrier between the Soldiers and Governor Palin.
Therein is the freedom and liberty of American patriotism on one side, and there are those who seek the message on the other.
The Army "leadership" is the barricade that prevents the message from being heard.

It also eliminates “compare and contrast” photos between Obama meeting with our troops and Palin meeting with them.

Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, has already agreed not to give a speech at Bragg, McCollum said. But he worried that Palin's supporters might make the event political and use the media to express opinions from the base. So in other words they are worried about "us," not "her."
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
