Dobbs got $8M to quit
CNN 'wanted him out'
CNN was so sick of Lou Dobbs, it gave him an $8 million severance package to leave, The Post has learned.
"They wanted him out," according to a source.
Dobbs, who a source said had a year and a half to go on his $12 million contract, shocked viewers last Wednesday by announcing he was quitting. CNN boss Jonathan Klein and Dobbs, 64, had been publicly feuding over the kind of reporting Dobbs was doing on his show -- especially stories about illegal immigration and the anti-Obama "birther" movement, which contends the president was not born in Hawaii and is not an American citizen.
But it was not clear until now that CNN was willing to pay Dobbs so much money to leave.

CNN is going down. It will be as popular as PBS eventually. Only the pseudo intellectuals at Daily Kos and DU will comprise it’s major audience. Dobbs did the right thing by getting out of there. I hear he may even consider running for Congress. Bottom line, he ain’t hurtin.
The extreme left wanted CNN to censor him. He wasn't part of their borg mentality. He chose to speak freely, but speaking freely is politically incorrect.
To bad for CNN, though. He was one of their two top rated shows. They lost on this deal.
“
You dont suppose they included a clause in their agreement that bars him going to Fox for a number of years, do you?
From the same article:
Dobbs said he is free to take a new job at another network, but said it would be “weeks, probably months” before he decides what to do next.”

The Lou Dobbs-Janet Napolitano Connection (FReeper madness or conspiracy?)
CNN was so sick of Lou Dobbs, it gave him an $8 million severance package to leave. That boy Dobbs knows how to play the money game.
The only time I ever went to CNN was to watch Glen Beck. I was delighted to hear he was hired by FOX. That way, I'd never have to go to CNN again.
FOX has stolen a lot of CNNs top talent. Gretta seems to be doing quite well, too.
I’d quit my job and bring my boss roses for a mere 100k.
If so, wonder how shareholders feel about this...?
Have to purify the thought, can we trade Whoraldo?
Pray for America’s Freedom
I'll bet you're correct.
But there're ways around that kind of restriction.
Had a local TV weather OAP guy. He wanted to go to one of the 3 competitors in the same city. Out of spite the employing station said "No way, pal!".
They fired him, paid his contact while reminding him the no compete clause he'd signed would enthusiastically be enforced.
Fine.
In the following weeks the guy shows up on the station he'd wanted to work, wearing a brown paper grocery bag over his head. On it was printed, "The Unknown Weatherman" reminiscent of the Saints fan gag in New Orleans. He did the entire weather like that and for days after.
Everyone knew who the guy was.
Ultimately it made the other station enforcing his contract the laughing stock of local media, at all levels.
Shortly thereafter the offending station waived his contract, signed a total release. Today, he's a happy weatherman at the station of his choice.
I would take 8 million to quit any job ...

Too hot dang funny!
Dobb’s did not lie. Eight million sounds amicable enough. . .
they were content with Dobbs being anti-Bush
Way to go CNN - watch what little ratings they did have completely tank out. But I guess they’re not in it for the money...
Paging their shareholders....
:)
CNN is purging all but like-minded liberals from their ranks.
The libs try to claim that the GOP is purging moderates from the party. Pot, meet kettle.
Imagine the outrage that would have voiced had it been FOX News that acted as CNN and dumped a “balancing” viewpoint. The lame steam and CNN have no clue and just don’t get it.
Same here, but my husband is a channel flicker...and one day he landed on Dobbs and I actually liked the guy..so we would watch him. Now, I have no reason to ever be on CNN.
Funny tho..I thought he left because someone was shooting at his house. I thought he was afraid for his family.
I hope he moves to Fox, too.
Shareholders don’t matter in the fascist scheme of things. They’ll eventually get a bailout and taxpayers will foot the bill no matter how poorly they perform.
