CNN to Lou Dobbs: Don't Let the Door Hit You....
NewsRealBlog.com ^ | November 12, 2009 | Ben Johnson

Posted on 11/12/2009 2:15:37 PM PST by FrontPageMag.com

The left-wing media wouldn't know a class act if he anchored for them for 30 years.

Lou Dobbs's departure from CNN has turned into a cause for celebration -- at CNN. Network president Jonathan Klein dismissively called Lou's program "advocacy journalism" in an otherwise respectful tribute. But Politico.com quotes an anonymous network source:

"I think it's safe to say that he won't be missed among the rank-and-file employees at the network," said a CNN staffer. "The Dobbs show has existed in its own little universe for the last several years, in many ways cut off from the rest of the editorial process at CNN. Most people will be left wondering what this means for the primetime lineup and whether Klein can now deliver on his 'down the middle' mantra."

"Down the middle"? Presumably, Anderson Cooper is now free to slander tea party protesters as perverts, while Wolf Blitzer's team investigates Saturday Night Live skits (wrongly) with no counterpart to the Right. Or the center. CNN viewers will not forget that network allowed (or encouraged?) Susan Roesgen to antagonize tea party protesters on camera, gave Christiane Amanpour six hours to compare Rev. John Hagee to Osama bin Laden, and broadcast Soledad O'Brien asking if President Bush was "slow to respond" to Hurricane Katrina because "pictures of mostly black people were on TV" -- among a litany of other, daily left-wing outrages. The bloom was off CNN's "unbiased" rose long ago. This video illustrates the bias of CNN's reporters when they're not on the air....

Lou Dobbs response should be the same as the individual that they (CNN) help to promote to POTUS (POS):

I suspect that CNN’s business model does not presently value plain US viewership ratings.

A lot of CNN’s watchers are not in the US at all, and the people abroad who watch CNN are not likely to value Lou Dobbs message, it would be seen as parochial(I don’t think he is even on the International broadcasts ?).

Besides that, CNN has always had a bit of an elite cut of that international audience. Big business-government-political “integration” being what it is, these people would be the nomeklatura types of their respective nations, and the advertisers who are after those people also have nomenklatura-compatible agendas to push. They don’t want a populist Lou Dobbs arguing against what they are spending money to say.

Leave the falling US ratings out of it - is CNN actually losing money ? That will tell the story.

Heard a moron on WOR this morning insist that Jack Cafferty was unbiased.

And that the New York Times was a reliable source of unbiased news too.”

Perfect model of an NObama voter & supporter.

I think Dobbs will end up at Fox.
Then he can take the gloves off.

Dobbs was the only one I ever watched on CNN.

Now I can block that channel totally.

“Does this mean you’ve read Lou’s contract with CNN? I believe these contracts typically have ‘early termination’ clauses that prohibit a performer from going to work at a competitor’s shop for several years”

I don’t know, but Beck jumped from CNN (headline news) to the The Enemy. Of course, he might have been a free agent.

>> Noncompeting clauses are typically unenforceable when the corporation unilaterally terminates an employee without just cause. <<

Thanks! You make an excellent point. I had entirely overlooked the possibility by assuming simply that Lou exited sua sponte.

In other words, if Dobbs was fired without valid cause, then he can go to work for Fox. But if he quit voluntarily, then perhaps his only hope of getting a lot of face time on TV is if he runs for POTUS.

Therefore, let's pray that he was fired and that he spares us another "Perot scenario."

I don’t have any inside information... Just a hunch and perhaps a bit of wishful thinking.

I don’t have details of the contract or the terms of his separation, but no one does. He could have been forced out or asked to resign and given some considerations in return.

Of course, he is getting older and may just be leaving the game.

Be nice if FB didn’t hire IPUS. We’d be better off with Dobbs. At least he’s intelligent.

Not sure what F was thinking when they hired IPUS

Wow, is that ever an understatement! Lou was like a ship of sanity in a sea of liberal Democrat socialist propaganda. Buh-bye, CNN - - don't let the toilet lid slam on your fingertips as you swirl away like a turd.

Unfortunately, while the post isn’t that bad and the use of links appears to be more effective than what others are known to do (such as linking “good guys’” names to “bad guys’” site inadvertently), there aren’t too many people willing to do the ground-level work to support Dobbs by showing how his detractors are wrong.

For just a couple examples, I just left this comment:

mediamatters.org/blog/200911120019#640734

And, I’ve tweeted a couple things today:

http://twitter.com/24AheadDotCom

Others could easily take a few minutes every few days to do things like that, and if enough people did it the “bad guys” might back off. But, getting people to spare even a few minutes appears to be quite difficult.

Dobbs was the only one I ever watched on CNN.

Same here, and I had to physically enter the channel number to get to CNN because I have my remote progammed to skip all the garbage channels as I surf up and down the dial.

Even if he quit, he can claim he did so because CNN created a hostile work environment which made it difficult or impossible to do his job. The printed comments from the CNN groupies alone provide a lot of good evidence for just such a lawsuit . . . unlike Dan Blather's case.

Remember, Rather sued for breach of contract and CBS walked away owing nothing because they gave him another assignment which had no audience appeal.

Watching CNN International is like watching paint dry, or getting a lobotomy, it’s that bad.

If Lou is such a wimp and such a cry baby to make this sort of claim, then my respect for him will sink even deeper into negative territory.

And what will be next? Will Dobbs claim sexual harassment because Anderson Cooper made a pass at him?
