If you are going to force insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions and accept all comers you must force people to buy insurance or that will destroy the insurance market. Of course there is nothing necessarily wrong with the status quo where private insurance and the taxpayers pick up the costs of non-insured people.

What nobody is taking about is that people who “can’t afford to buy insurance” will be subsidized.

That’s exactly what will happen. It will be means tested because that’s the whole point of this bill to make folks who have the money pay for the medical coverage of those who aren’t covered.

Well, if there were something in the bill, no congress critter read the entire thing. I heard part of the bill being read, and it makes no sense.

replaces provision 12 - 14 - c

which replaces provision 6 - b - 2”

I am not risking jail time. I am not paying. I am more than willing to die taking a stand on this very issue. Are they willing to kill me for it? That is the choice they will be faced with because jail time will not enter in the equation. I guess we will see.
