DALLAS - They're cute, but they are trouble. FOX 4's Sophia Reza reports some local stores are selling baby turtles even though they are illegal and can carry salmonella.

I remember when I was in elementary school every other kid had a tiny turtle with one of those plastic bowls with the palm trees.

Man I remember as a kid having turtles as pets in the 1960’s and don’t recall being scared half to death about salmonella.

Maybe if they legalized it the salmonella would go away. lol.

Was it a painful experience, sort of like passing a stone.

Uhh, you can get salmonella from uncooked chicken and beef and from other pets.

This is another issue that has been blown totally out of proportion.

I was an "every other kid" with a tiny turtle and a boawl with a palm tree. LOL!

It was really cute.
