Calloway Nuclear. Gonna have to give my husband grief, he’s been out there to see the plant and said this was right near it.

I’ll just stop posting today until both of us get our brains straightened out!!! grin

(I do have a real excuse, hubby has to start night shift tomorrow and we went to sleep at 6am and got up at 8am - must get more coffee!)

OK, so that is Calloway County.

Yes, quite near to Jefferson City and Columbia.

Hope we can get more nuclear plants in Missouri, BTW.

I don’t think there is a single state that does not have a population of muslims, some states have larger populations, others much less but they are here.

Now we know radical muslims have infiltrated our military. This country will not survive if we continue shoving our heads in the sand out of fear of offending people.

I wonder what ever came out of this investigation

“SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Members of a mosque are fighting to keep their place of worship as the federal government probes a link between the Islamic Center of Springfield and a benefactor accused of financing terrorism around the world.

The center is owned by the Saudi-based Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, which U.S. authorities accuse of diverting donations to support a web of terrorist activities. The Saudi government dissolved the foundation this summer.”

From what I’ve read (can’t cite publications except as various) Michigan has the largest concentration.

I can't get that link to pull up but I do remember that but geez so much has happened and we never hear ‘the end’ or ‘if anything ever gets resolved or if so, how’ etc.

Really I have sensory overload at this point

We should be building nuclear plants all over the country, There is currently 17 applications with the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission)to build new plants or to add additional reactors. Only 2 have been approved so far and that was under Bush.

This administration is not supportive of nuclear power (imagine that). I have a feeling over the next 3 years plants that are up for re-licensing will have a difficult time.

Hubby just checked the NRC , Callaway has a licensing request in to build an additional reactor at the site.

Appears to be a false alarm, according to KOMU's Twitter page.

Callaway has a licensing request in to build an additional reactor at the site.

They (AmerenUE) gave up. They were seeking to increase electric rates to fund the new plant and the Public Service Commission denied the request after an outcry arose about people being billed for a plant that they may never benefit from.

In a rational world, they would sell bonds to finance it.

Too bad they didn't use that stimulus as a loan guarantee to build a hundred new plants.

Looks like we will get to hear the end of the DC Sniper. I can't remember his Muslim name at the moment, other than Muhammad. All stays have been denied.

Hmmm, the licensing request is still active with the NRC. Callaway was slapped for not having enough funds in their decommissioning fund a few years back.

I wonder if they’ve left the application open with the intent to go forward in 2011 when they plan on asking for a 20 year license extension.

With 17 outstanding licensing requests open with the NRC and an administration that is not nuclear friendly at all, I can see many companies waiting until a friendlier administration is in power before investing the time and money to build additional plants/reactors.

True enough. On my old hard drive that I had at the time of 9/11, someone sent a cartoon showing the ‘after life’ of the hijackers with Satan laughing and them looking at each other saying something like ‘hey, where’s our virgins?’ something on that order.

The old prison has been closed for about 4 years now.
New prison, about 10 miles away.

News reports are sketchy. Reports they are searching the building a room at a time but no info on hostages, injurys, or even who or how many could be involved.
