Tough Road Ahead for Dems After Vote Passes
National Review ^ | 11-08-09 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 11/07/2009 9:18:01 PM PST by truthandlife

Listening to the debate on the floor today, it was clear that Democrats considered it a moral and ideological obligation to pass this bill—consequences be damned. The leadership is congratulating itself now—Pelosi is already the greatest speaker of all time apparently—but there's a tough rough ahead in the Senate. Pelosi could lose 39 votes. Reid can't lose any. Passage in the House definitely creates more pressure on Reid to get it done, but the slender margin—despite the size of the Democratic majority in the House and all the arm-twisting and deal-making (what did Cao get?)—has to make Senate moderates even more nervous. There's a long string yet to be played out here, and it's still likely to stretch into next year, by which time Pelosi’s historic accomplishment of Nov. 7 may look foolish.

Oh Please! I’m sure glad you’re not my commander in the armed forces. You lose one battle and you throw up your hands and say, What’s the point? Cry Baby. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get ready to fight the next battle. We have to win the war. This is war. fantom and mamelakesabre want to call it a day. Forget it! and Man50D wants civil disobedience. Wouldn’t they just love that. No. We need to band together just as we have been doing and get our country back. Don’t give up. We own the government. We pay their salaries and I say we fire each and every one of them that voted against we the people. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to vote. That is our revenge.

We are a minority and when a minority imposes it’s will on the majority, the result is not democracy or freedom...even if it is done for their own good.

Numbers are mutable.

Yep. And they are getting less and less in our favor every day.

Oh for Pete’s sake, what has the Democrap party ever done for the poor. Keep ‘em poor, give ‘em a few bucks here and there, promise ‘em the moon and the stars.

I agree.

The best thing the Democrats ever did for the poor was put a time limit on Welfare. That actually worked for everybody.

I don't know. I just think this segment might be more vulnerable than the Democrats think. Obama is all hat and no cattle and soon, he won't have the credit to borrow any more money to make that hat look purdy. At 10.2 percent unemployment, the lowest end of the employment segment is right up against it.

Alynsky's idea was to break the system by overloading it.. but the faces and owners of this mess are the Democrats.

As I said, just a few more percent lost on any side and the sun sets on this bunch.. Where do you think the slice is? The bunch that is getting sick of where this all is going on the Democrat side?

Speaking of which, can’t someone sue the gov’t for the unconstitutionality of the bill in that it forces people to buy something (healthcare). Nowhere in the constitution is the gov’t allowed such far-reaching powers.

This could tie it up in the courts for a long time (someone correct me if I’m wrong about this option...)

I am absolutely convinced that they are about to go over the cliff. I’ve been to almost half a dozen tea party rallies and the anger I see is just astounding. Unemployment is officially at 10.2 percent but in reality it’s much higher. I say give it another 2-3 months and the dam will burst. These people are too stupid to realize what they are doing and who they are up against. It will be a very long time before they ever set foot in the White House again. Regular Americans are not going for this bullsh_t any longer. We are the majority now. Not them.

Yea, your method really seems to be working well. Votes only change things when there are fair elections. Honey, those are a thing of the past.

Check out how your rep voted:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll887.xml

My Dem rep - who is not a blue dog - voted No! Maybe it was because many conservatives in his district called him and told him to vote no, so he feared his constituents more than Pelosi.

“Enter through the narrow and upright gate because WIDE and EXPANSIVE is the way which leads away to utter destruction and perishing" - The Way is narrow and straight that leads to life.

The misleading, mistaken, and fraudulent schemes of politicians aren’t victimless crimes. We all suffer. The nation becomes ill; its collective spirit is injured. Misery and pain, wickedness and wretchedness follow.

The “bandit,” is a raider, a marauding mercenary who takes things which do not belong to him.” In a modern setting, this is the Robin Hood mentality of politicians.

But we have no one to blame but ourselves. We opened the door and...... “The thief comes inside. The Bandits raid outside. Now their exploits surround and encircle them.” (Hosea)

We only lost by 5, even though the Dems strongly outnumbered the Republicans.

The U.S. senate doesn’t have the votes which is why they came out and admitted “Health care reform” wouldn’t be passed this year.

Let’s step up our efforts so we win when the Senate votes.

"Now is the time for CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE!!!!!!! "

I feel that way too, BUT...obama would love to have an excust to declare "Martial Law". With that move he could do all of the "Chavez" things he wanted, like silence radio & tv, or make us disappear in the middle of the night.

See my tag line....

Yeah, I heard one of the dems saying how this bill was the moral thing to do.

What do dimocrats know about morality? Zilch.

Democrats have to know about morality because their central idea of “progress” is to move beyond morality and achieve the imposition of immorality on institutions, government and the people.

if Obamacare passes, it, like every other major entitlement, will only expand.

Yeah, the bureaucracies are like cancers: They metastasize.

There's a great Berke Breathed cartoon that references "growth as cancer." Wish I had a link to it.

Those Democrats who aren't wrinkled pro-choice hags can point to the Stupak Amendment, which passed.

It will likely be gutted in committee. YOU WILL PAY TO EXECUTE BABIES BY DISMEMBERMENT WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT!
