POLITICO reports:
Hours before an expected vote on a sweeping health care bill, House Democrats believe they've secured the 218 votes they need to approve the bill, several party insiders said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the House floor about 6:30 p.m. to say, Today we will pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act.. . .We will make history. We will also make progress for America's working families."
Thirty-two Democrats have publicly declared their opposition to the bill, giving party leaders the narrowest possible margin to push the bill across the finish line. But numerous sources said Democrats believe they do have the votes after a day of intense lobbying of wavering Democrats.
We arent gonna win this one, it looks like.
No this bill will pass tonight.
If that bitch can’t find the votes, she will pull them out of her broom.
Its not over yet, tho..even if they do pass it.
Voting should be re-classified as a WMD...
Don’t you mean her goons are doing the dirty work, threatening any Dem who doesn’t go with the vote?
See my #178 - the entire chamber knows who that guy is.
Notice that they have reported that the House is packed tonight even into the halls......packed with aids. Guess who will be on the recieving end of all this.
And what in the world are the so called “Republicans” even offering ANY alternative to this mess AT ALL?
And last, these threads tonight should have had already over 1000 replies and responses so far.
Did not know that...
Now there are 10 Dem votes to recommit. This is amazing.
Regardless of what ultimately happens, no elected Republican should ever accept that the bill is “settled law” and move on. They should get the message out and make it abundantly clear to the apathetic voters how the Democrat leadership has f***ed them over. Aside from that, all we can do is wait for the criminals in power to paint themselves into a corner.
Thats their normal state of being
The House just voted down the Republican Alternative, as presented, by party line (except for Ron Paul).
They did..it was voted down.
My bad. Her hands are always clean. I’d be amazed if she was even in the Chamber.
Today my priest asked me if I called my rep, and I told him I’ve been calling and calling. He reads my letters to the editor in both secular and religious newspapers so knows my passion about the life issue.
They know they’re in trouble. Keep jamming those lines. A Saturday night/midnight vote in the House is just disgraceful.
yep...now I’m starting to get it
seems that media/news outlets are kinda confused, too.

Voting just starting. 177 for 156 against.
