POLITICO reports:
Hours before an expected vote on a sweeping health care bill, House Democrats believe they've secured the 218 votes they need to approve the bill, several party insiders said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the House floor about 6:30 p.m. to say, Today we will pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act.. . .We will make history. We will also make progress for America's working families."
Thirty-two Democrats have publicly declared their opposition to the bill, giving party leaders the narrowest possible margin to push the bill across the finish line. But numerous sources said Democrats believe they do have the votes after a day of intense lobbying of wavering Democrats.
The vote today, if it occurs, means absolutely NOTHING.
The Senate must pass their version, if they can pass one at all...and then to conference committee.
The dim party is TOO broad politically and geographically to pass a bill like this on it’s own. If the GOP stands tough, there will be NO BILL.
So I ask myself why do we continue to support this government. The American citizens who still love this country should remove the current government and replace it with a government which will represent the citizens of this country as stated in the Constitution.
Are they actually trying to start a civil war in this country? At some point true patriots are going to rise up and take action and there will be no DemocRAT left in Washington after 2010.
The Stupak Amendment passed with 60-odd Dem votes (inserts the No Federal Funding for Abortions clause into the final bill).
In other words, voting for the Stupak Amendment gives pro-life Dems some political cover for voting for the “Big” Bill - National Healthcare.
Every time I hear Nancy Pelosi use the phrase, “working families,” I want to throw up. A “working family” for Pelosi means “union family.” These people are so out of touch with reality it’s sickening.
You can watch whats going on, yourself.

I have it opened in another window.
I didn’t know he was a troll, wouldn’t have bothered with a post. Thanks
Sent here to scout out the opposition?
Well, my hubby probably programed those fliers. So, before you burn them, call the company and let them you LOVE their catalogs. :)
I stand with you in agreement before our Lord, and add that they may not be able to come to consensus on this monstrosity of a bill.
That's really rich! You should be thanking his former RINO opponent, Scuzzyfava, for helping him get elected. SHE endorsed Owens and was proud to vote for him. If you screw on your tiny thinking cap a little bit tighter you might realize she would be voting the same way.
Of course it will get stripped in Conference - you are correct, but they got their names "on the record".
Why wait until midnight? It's all about media cycle and missing the Sunday newspaper and talk show deadlines. She seemingly views this as Bad News, as she and the rest of the Dems should. Remember when Van Jones resignation was released? 12:01 am, Sunday, Sept 6, over the 3-day Labor Day weekend... |
Yes that will be next:
H.R 875
Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009
It is interesting that a co-sponsors husband, Stanley B. Greenberg, works for Monsanto?
This bill legalizes the FOOD POLICE: criminalizing organic farming and the backyard gardener, and violates the 10th amendment. Government sanctioned farming only allowed? This will further control the food supply to the American people dependent on big corporations (Monsanto) and the government for our food. It will mean the end of Farmers Markets in Lancaster County and across the country.
It legally binds state agriculture departments to enforce these federal guidelines effectively taking away the states power to do anything other than being food police for the federal government.
* criminalizes organic farming but doesn’t actually use the word organic.
* effects anyone growing food even if they are not selling it but consuming it.
* effects anyone producing meat of any kind including wild game.
* Legislation is so broad based that every aspect of growing or producing food can be made illegal.
* Section 103 is almost entirely about the administrative aspect of the legislation. It will allow the appointing of officials from the factory farming corporations and lobbyists and classify them as experts and allow them to determine and interpret the legislation. Who do you think they are going to side with?
* Section 206 defines what will be considered a food production facility and what will be enforced up all food production facilities. The wording is so broad based that a backyard gardener could be fined and more.
* Section 207 requires that the state’s agriculture dept act as the food police and enforce the federal requirements. This takes away the states power and is in violation of the 10th amendment.
Thanks...then Madame P. will take it out of the bill after they vote for it?
They said this on Tuesday, too, keep calling.
The Senate and House conference will strip it, quietly. Conference hearings generally aren’t broadcast.
They said this on Tuesday, too. Keep calling. Keep praying.
