Freep your Republican Congressman to vote NO on Stupak-Pitts Amendment to Kill HR3962

Let's face it, Pelosi is going to stip this language out in committee. She offered it to push the bill along the process. If the Republicans kill the Amendment they might stop the bill today.

It also puts the blue dogs in even more of a quandry to vote yes or no without the abortion provisions.

I agree with your reasoning. Cynical, but we need to oppose this thing with everything in our arsenal. However, I believe Republicans already announced that they will be supporting the amendment.

That’s a damned if you do, dammed if you don’t proposition — if Republicans vote against the amendment, that’ll give the Blue Dogs political cover to vote *for* the whole bill, even though it doesn’t have that provision...

“The Republicans don’t want it, so why should we worry about it?”

There are pro-choice Republicans. Every Republican doesn’t need to vote against it. Just enough to kill it.

we can poison pill the bill by voting no

No you cannot. The Blue Dogs are merely running this for show. It is political cover, most of them are still going to vote for this bill if it fails. Their leader all ready said it. The vote on this amendment does not change his vote on the bill. He is still voting for it.

If the GOP votes against it the Blue Dogs will then blame the GOP for killing the Amendment to excuse them for voting for the whole bill. Hang this vote around the Democrats neck. Do not aid them by playing political games that will only backfire on the GOP.

Enough of the Blue Dogs are voting for this no matter what happens on the Amendment. IF that were not the case, the Dems would never of brought this vote to the floo

Regardless of whether this bill passes or not; Pelosi needs to be held accountable and should face prosecution.

“Regardless of whether this bill passes or not; Pelosi need.s to be held accountable and should face prosecution.”

In your dreams. The only people who will get prosecuted are those who supported GWB in the War on Terror. Dems don’t prosecute their own, you should know that by now. (Unless, of course, their own are conservatives.)

The amendment violates the most important principles that our free republic is premised on. It denies the personhood of the unborn child and does not provide for the equal protection of the laws as it must to be constitutional.

I don’t care what somebody’s “strategy” is. If I were a Congressman you would most certainly never get my vote for this amendment.

Boehner might have already squashed it. He put Rangel in a corner & he admitted he couldn't guarantee the Stupack (sp)language would be in the bill after returning from committee.

The Amendment is for removing Federal funding FOR abortion that will be in the “big” bill...

So my congressman is voting for the Amendment, BUUUUUTTTTT will vote AGAINST the “RULE” to get the big bill to the floor for the vote they (democrats) want tonight...

I don’t understand, and there is a lot of confusion on all of this, which is totally engineered to confuse and difuse efforts to get the overall plan (bill) voted on tonight...

The Minority Leader needs to get his ship under control...And for all intents and purposes it is under control, but there are forces out there trying to get folks outside the beltway to light up the switchboard and get everyhones panties in a wad...

Sure, call, but understand that there is a concensus that a YES on this Stupak-Pitts Amendment will not kill the bill, but will take the Federal dollars away from any abortion provisions in the Healthcare bill being presented (for now)...And that a NO vote on the “rule” which will put that big bill on the floor for any final debate or amendments should be the route our conservative representatives take in these final hours...

This is it folks...This is what I got directly from TX-22...

FWIW...

Boehner is wrong, or somewhere the information is coming to y’all in a confusing manner...

I just caught Pete Olsen (TX-22) as he was heading back out to the floor...He told me he is voting Yes on this Amendment to kill Federal funding for abortion in the main Healthcare bill...And he is going to vote No on the “rule” to get the big bill to the floor for a final tweek and vote...

Now...

Anything can happen, and we are all in a wait and see mode right now...The bill is going to be decided tonight in the House, as it stands now...

I tried to contact Jeb Hensarling’s office down the hall from TX-22’s digs, and they are rolling calls right to voicemail...

I believe it is now becoming a circus up there and we’ll just have to hope they are all ready to go into the final round here and do what we want them to do...

We already know what the opposition is going to do...

No need to put any more pressure on these goobers...They know what we expect of them, and we will just have to tally up where they fall after the fact...

Interesting times we live in...

My understanding is that this amendment passing will give the Bluedogs the cover to vote "Yes" on Crap Sandwich II.

This is all just a game. I wouldn't give the Rats anything they want, ever.

Thanks for the update...Can’t the Pubs vote “abstain?” The amendment is going to give cover to my Dem rep who right now is supposedly “undecided” because of the abortion clause. If the Stupak amendment is not included, he has no “cover” to vote yes for the entire bill....

Question...

Who told you this Amendment is of that context???

I was told directly from my Congressman that the Amendment is to remove Federal funding from the overall Healthcare “plan/bill” HR3962...

So a Yes on the Amendment would be sufficient to meet your criteria for the protection of life (pro-life) stance, which I am in total agreement with you...

A NO vote (which is where I think the confusion is tonight) is in reference to the RULE that will allow the HR3962 to come up for a vote on the floor...

Obviously at that particular point a NO vote on the rule is another step in the process...

Then voting no on the big bill will put you in good stead with the people...At least us conservatives...

Right kemosabe???

Last I heard it had a rape and incest exception and a HEALTH of the mother exception.

A travesty. One that wouldn't stop a single abortion.

Yes, you are correct...But I believe they are going to vote yes on the bill regardless of the funding provisions for abortion, if it is in the final bill or not...

There is a moral stance to these final hours in opposing this bill...Lets tweek it as much as possible, and let Pelosi, Obama, Ried and the rest of the immoral congress deal with the ramifications of passing this bill...

Nothing is going to get in the way of this...

But as long as we can get some speedbumps put up before the eventual trainwreck...Well, thats about all we can do at this point...
