This article would make perfect sense aside from the fact that the Working Families Party is universally understood to be a wholly-owned ACORN asset, specifically its political arm in the tri-state region. But disregarding that, it's true, there's nothing to see here.

ACORN has 2 strong motives for downplaying its role in NJ:
a) Christie won anyway, suggesting their power is overstated (which translates into the Obama administration needing to feed it fewer taxpayer dollars); and
b) To the degree they WERE successful in channeling 1 or 2 or 3% of votes in Corzine’s direction, it means that Christie’s win was even more impressive. As it was, despite a 3rd party candidate siphoning off 6% of the vote, Christie won 49%. Without ACORN’s legally questionable efforts to tip the scales, Christie may well have topped 50%—an embarrassing slap in the face of a president who did everything in his power to see that the slimeball incumbent remained in power.
