Bullet weight and muzzle velocity are not that much different from .22 WMR. 5.7 is a little faster out of a little shorter barrel, bullet weight is or can be, the same.

The choice of this particular weapon was not random chance.

It was guided by someone else for ease of use
by a neophyte for maximum effect.

If he was going for maximum effect against unarmored targets (which is what he had) he should have picked a different gun and a different caliber.

Look upthread - the 5.7 does not carry the necessary energy to be all that effective.

it is obviously a terrorist attack..organized by someone who planned it from a distance, chose a mentally fragile moslem malcontent who was just right for the task and probably bankrolled it with oil money.
