Basically, they’ve been in the same place since July the whole time. They just bluffed at certain times to claim they had votes that they didn’t. But if Bart Stupak has some more news for us, please do enlighten. :)

Appropriate comment from a "rules committee" member of Free Republic. Yes by all means we must follow the rules. And so must these Congresscritters. But you are wrong about one thing - this is indeed soundbyte central.
Stupak is quite liberal on most issues, but he is staunchly, staunchly pro-life. Perfect 100% rating. from the National Right to Life Council, perfect 0% rating from NARAL. Opposes embryonic stem-cell research, supports a ban on partial-birth abortion, very much in favor of rights for the fetus.
Kill this monstrosity!
With “Pro-Life” credentials like those, I find it very surprised that Pelosi even lets him in the building.
There are approximately 40 Reps who are with Stupak. Stupak has
been threatening Pelosi he has 40 votes. Stupak is a Democrat
but pro-life.
They don’t want taxpayers to subsidize or pay for abortions.
They want at least a vote on their Stupak Amendment.
There was some compromise, the Ellsworth Amendment,
which was going to try to get some of these people to sign on.
If all 40 Reps object, they don’t have the votes.
They are going to have to let them offer an amendment on the Stupak/Hyde language on the floor. No taxpayer funded abortion.
Since the President said that no abortions will be funded in Sept. in
this Joint Session of Congress speech, this would be a political
hot potato. The Amendment would have to be voted on by
every member.
I think Pelosi wanted no amendments to be able to be offered
on the floor.
Like that means something today! Still no trust here...
The vote is coming tomorrow. It is passing. Obama and the RATs will claim victory. Deal with it. We lost at the voting booth in November 2008.

Boston Globe reporting that RATS still dont have enough votes to pass it. At least one RAT will vote no because it’s not radical enough for him.
I don’t believe the AP story is correct.
Rep Jim McGovern who is temporarily chairing the Rules Committee and just
said “If this (Stupak) Amendment is allowed on the floor” I will vote against it.
Stupak Amendment is Hyde language (pro-life) language (no taxpayer
or subsidized abortion.)
So, I don’t believe they (Stupak group) have any deal with Pelosi.
There are 40 votes out there that Pelosi doesn’t have.
