I don’t believe the AP story is correct.

Rep Jim McGovern who is temporarily chairing the Rules Committee and just
said “If this (Stupak) Amendment is allowed on the floor” I will vote against it.
Stupak Amendment is Hyde language (pro-life) language (no taxpayer
or subsidized abortion.)

So, I don’t believe they (Stupak group) have any deal with Pelosi.
There are 40 votes out there that Pelosi doesn’t have.

Stupak Amendment Proffered To Rules Committee [Robert Costa]

Pro-life Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan is presenting his amendment to the Rules Committee now. “We wish to maintain current law,” he says, referencing the Hyde amendment. “It is not the time to rewrite policy.” There will now be much debate within both parties about what kind of deal, if any, that Stupak made and whether insurers will be able to find ways to get around the amendment’s legislative language.
