7 Dead, 15 Or More Wounded In Shooting On Fort Hood; Schools Locked Down
Schools in the Fort Hood area are locked down after a shooting on post that left seven dead and 15 or more injured. Two and possibly three gunmen were involved and only one is confirmed to be in custody.

FORT HOOD (November 5, 2009)-Army officials have confirmed a mass shooting on Fort Hood.
The Associated Press reports that seven are dead and 15 more are injured, but other reports place the number of injured as low as 12 and as high as 20.
There are also confirmed reports that a police officer was shot in a post exchange, but other details werent available.
All available ambulances and paramedics in the area were responding to post.
The shooting happened in on Battalion Avenue.
Fort Hood is shut down and no one is being allowed on or off post.
Killeen ISD officials say all nine schools on post are on lock down because of the situation.
Temple ISD reports they are on a “soft” lock down in connection with the Fort Hood.
“Temple Police Department requested Temple ISD place all campuses and district buildings in a soft lockdown, due to a situation at Fort Hood, TISD spokesperson Regina Corley told News 10 by news release.

Actually I was able to return to *West* Ft. Hood, after you made that post. Not much after, but a few minutes at least. But not that long afterwards, they locked that part down as well.
I wouldn't have gone back, and didn't expect to be able to, but I'd left my only phone (No land line) on my desk. I knew they'd be trying to call me, and that I'd need to call my wife and daughters.. and my 83 y/o mother too. Which I eventually did.
