The only problem with this is that our bodies are so complex, that every time one thing is changed, it does not happen in isolation. Thus, the dreaded side effects of any drug.

It is so expensive to bring new drugs to market, that these companies sometimes rush things, and the side effects don’t become apparent for months or even years. The problems with Byetta and now Januvia come to mind.

For now, the best option is to exercise as much as possible and cut down on the chow, if you can. Not a nice thing to say right before the holidays, I know. :-)
