Brasovan Encouraged By NY-District 23 Race

New York's District 23 Congressional race should send a clear signal to the Republican party that conservative candidates can win elections, and stand up for the values that the party should support now and in the future, says Mike Brasovan, Republican Congressional candidate for Texas District 12.

"I believe this race clearly indicates that if the Republican party will stick to its conservative principles and lead based on those principles, people will follow," he said.

Brasovan says he's glad the campaign of conservative New York Republican Doug Hoffman overtook that of Republican state assemblywoman Deidre "Dede" Scozzafava. She was supported by current District 12 Rep. Kay Granger and considered a more liberal candidate because of her views on abortion, support of homosexual marriage and her endorsement by the Working Families Party.

Grangers support for Scozzafava stands in stark contrast to Brasovan's support for Hoffman. "Hoffman was the clear choice for any real conservative" said Brasovan. "We should not support Republicans who, like Arlen Specter and Olympia Snowe, don't stand for what the Republican Party believes. If we support leaders that can stand for, articulate and defend conservative principles, the Republican Party will not only grow, it will thrive. We'll get much better results in Congress if we send true conservative leaders that are concentrating less on being re-elected and more on implementing conservative based solutions to the problems that are facing our nation.

Mike Brasovan is president of THG Energy and Technology Solutions, the company he founded in 2003. The company - which focuses on developing energy supply solutions for a wide range of commercial, industrial, hospital and university clients - has grown to six full-time employees at its Fort Worth office.

Brasovan has served the Republican Party over the past few years as a Parker County election judge on multiple occasions, a delegate to the County and State conventions in 2006 and 2008, and an alternate delegate to the national convention in 2008. Brasovan also helped form the Parker County Young Republicans.

He lives in Aledo with his wife of 16 years, Karen; their son, Michael (13); and daughter, Rachael (12).

I applaud Doug Hoffman and his brave candidacy. That being said, I’ve heard that he wasn’t all that good on the stump. I think we should find some other good conservative to run, preferably one who has won elections before.

What Conservative principles? The situation in NY-23 would never have occurred if the OP(formerly the GOP) had Conservative principles!

It was a special election and no primary so it ended up a free for all. Next year they can do it right.

I, for one, will never forgive Newt for his totally tossing Conservative principles under the bus.

For me, that realization was physically painful.

Maroun was the top conservative at the committee chairmen meeting.

Just a clue Newbee,
Doug Hoffman is a life long Republican.
The Conservative Party in New York are Republicans.

Trying to pitch third party propaganda won’t work
with this.

You still have to hand it to Hoffman and conservatives for getting that close, considering. I applaud Hoffman for trying. But just imagine what would have happened with a more engaging candidate.

It is also encouraging that we don’t need professional politicians to run to win.

There can't be a third party when we have only one big socialist Republicrat party system. The RNCC's choice of Scozzafava to represent the OP (formerly the GOP) over Hoffman couldn't be a better illustration how the party has completely abandon Conservatism. Another party based on strong Conservative principles will be the second party.

But just imagine what would have happened with a more engaging candidate.

It wasn't his degree of engagement that was the issue. It was the OP(formerly the GOP) failing to have a primary, picking a socialist to represent the party over a Conservative and then giving 5,000 votes to the socialist RNCC candidate even though she dropped out of the race! The OP took votes from the Conservative candidate thereby costing the Conservative party the victory!

True. But personality goes a long way. I think that with some more time, he can be so personable, only a lib would vote against him.

Just watching re-run of Hannity in which Newt-the-Dupe tried to weasel his way of having supported Scuzzy-Fatso.

However, what I picked up from Shawn and think would be a great idea for 2010 is some sort of a new Contract with America with 10 or so points which support Conservative values and principles and of which "we" the base should have input and not left to the suits in DC.

Then anyone who wants to run as a Republican would have to take an oath (and sign a pledge) to support these values (and could also be used to compare on their past records if they are incumbents) if they want our support.

A Litmus test? Absolutely!

Demo-Rats have one only not published so why shouldn't we?

This would prevent cluster f*cks like we saw in NY23 and give us (and candidates) a guideline to follow.

COMMENTS???
