Democrat Bill Owens may have won last night's special election in New York's 23rd congressional district - but Sarah Palin said Wednesday that race "is not over."
Writing on Facebook early Wednesday morning, the former Alaska governor praised Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman and "all the other under-dog candidates who have the courage to put themselves out there and run against the odds."
"The race for New York's 23rd District is not over, just postponed until 2010," Palin wrote. "The issues of this election have always centered on the economy on the need for fiscal restraint, smaller government, and policies that encourage jobs. In 2010, these issues will be even more crucial to the electorate."

I heard that district would be removed anyway next year as the census will make redistricting of the area automatic and it will go.
It was always more about social conservatives vs. the Republican Establishment than anything else.
That fight goes on.
This is just an example of whats coming from now on.I don`t care who`s running and which election it is,I will NEVER AGAIN vote the LESSER of TWO evils, ever! And that includes the up coming POTUS/TOTUS election!
the Census will not be done by next November, plus there are always a few years spent dickering in court over the details.
In the long run I do think the district will go away as people continue to flee NY State.
Yep! I agree with palin. A whole nother year of 23 suffering under the DemoSocialist Tax Pig regime, and i’ll bet half the people who voted for Owens will be ready to toss him back into the DemoSeptic thinktank he crawled out of.
I think the redistricting starts in 2011 to reflect the 2010 census.
Owens will veer right when its convenient and the GOP will kill itself again.
That’s a brilliant strategy. *eyeroll* That’s what got us Obama and the country in the mess it is in now.
Sorry, honey, the ‘party over principle’ strategy got the GOP where they are today. Read my tagline.
you go rintense!
BINGO! We have a winner. Thank the rest of you for playing.
Your ideal, wishy-washy, moderate RINO candidate headed up the GOP ticket last year. And he couldn’t even beat an openly Marxist, anti-American thug.
THAT is what got us Obummer.
I am willing to fight a two front war: liberals to the left, and RINOs behind them. Hope others join in as well.
Where the fight needs to take place is the primaries. Conservatives need to re-take the party. The only way to do this is in the primaries and caucuses. NY-23 was a special case because the rinos picked a candidate without a primary.
Well, at least the democrat victor was more conservative that the “faux” republican “Scoffula”.
Next time around, a “five percenter” that isn’t even running won’t be on the ballot to suck off “R” votes from ignorant repubs.
I don`t want to vote for ANYONE who views our Constitution as an impediment to their agenda, regardless of what that agenda is.Those jerks work for us,not the other way around, so shove your "rolling eyes".
I think voting rino just because of the R after their name is what has gotten us into this situation...and it wasn’t just yesterdays election...
Yes, the GOP will retake that sit next Nov.
