Is Doug Hoffman Bush-like on immigration?
24AheadDotCom ^ | 10/28/09 | self/Hoffman website

Hoffman's immigration stance - all three sentences of it - is here:

Where do you stand on illegal immigration?
There is no question that our immigration policies are flawed. The answer, though, is not to put up a wall and stop all immigration. The answer is to create an easier path for immigrants to enter the United States - and to work here - while at the same time getting tough on illegal immigrants who commit crimes.

For those who don't follow this issue that closely, the above is Bush-like boilerplate. For instance, compare what Hoffman says to what Bush said in 2004:

I will work to ensure a system of safe and orderly migration. Earlier this year, I proposed a temporary worker program, not an amnesty program, that will offer legal status as temporary workers to undocumented men and women who were employed in the United States when I announced this proposal.

Much more at the link, and there are some questions for him here. It might be better to ask him about that now - and perhaps get him to change his mind and oppose "guest" workers - than to find out later what exactly he supports.

So he is not perfect. No one is.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I don’t expect perfection, and I still very much hope Hoffman wins. But the impact of illegal immigration is very serious.

New poverty stricken people coming in, getting citizenship, and being able to vote themselves more of the nations diminishing wealth should not be taken lightly

No, it’s not. RINO creep comes from not monitoring what your representative is doing and not standing up for that representative when his conservative views are attacked by liberal constituents. When the rep thinks that everyone is against his views and he doesn’t hear from his base, then he starts to creep. Hoffmann knows exactly what he’s up against and why he’s the preferred candidate.

The man’s district borders Canada, not Mexico. However, any immigration legislation may have an impact on commerce with Canada. His take on the issue, therefore, is likely to be different from someone in California or Texas.

Unfortunately, I think his answer is pretty clear. We’ve just been punked.

Leaving aside the merits of whatever Hoffman said (or didn’t say), ANY Democrat is going to be worse than ANY Republican on this issue.

In the current situation you are 100% correct!!!! The back stabbing by the cool-aide drinkers, and newts staff, has started.

Yes it is. However, if the choice is between a guy who agrees with us 99% of the time and a Dem who agrees with us 0% of the time, freaking out three days before a tight election smells like a propaganda ploy by a fake “Conservative” who is actually a leftist Democrat campaign agent.

Another worthless conservative traitor. I’m sick to death of these clowns.

The US is rotten. There’s no reforming this mess. The so-called “conservatives” are just as bad as the liberals.

America has run its course. Let it fall. Maybe we can make something better next time.

If you believe this is true, can you explain to why the Minuteman PAC endorsed Hoffman and donated to his campaign?

Oh but that right, that would require you to THINK for a change.

There’s no such thing as a “pure politician”.

It’s an oxymoron.

And I have to think the people posting their objections know this. Which leads me to believe they just want Democrats to win, and they don’t really care about advancing conservative values.

Or they’re just plain stupid!
