Gore Gone Wild: Predicts 220 Foot Sea Level Rise in 10 years

The scariest story told this Halloween week had nothing to do with ghosts, goblins, or zombies, though it was certainly dripping with huge gobs of Gore. In fact -- the most terrifying words screeched in the past seven days came from the master of environmental horror himself.

According to Arab Internet services company Maktoob.com, our favorite greenhouse gasbag spent Tuesday afternoon outlining the reasons why attendees of the Leaders in Dubai Business Forum must change their wicked gas-guzzling ways:

“The North Pole ice cap is 40 percent gone already and could be completely and totally gone in the winter months in the next 5 to 10 years.”

Such thaw, cautioned Gore, “could increase sea levels by 67 metres” and that “each one metre of sea level rise (SLR) is associated with 100 million climate refugees in the world.” That’s up a full 47 meters from the already horrifying predictions he’s made previously.

Incidentally, a climate refugee (or “environmentally induced migrant” as the UN would prefer we refer to them) is a person forced to move to a new country by global warming related environmental disasters. Where the whacky climate refugees per meter SLR figure came from is anybody’s guess.

Anyway, if my math is correct, the 2007 Nobel laureate effectively predicted that by 2020, the oceans could rise 220 feet and 6,700,000,000 people will be forced to wander the planet in search of a less soggy domicile.

And the journey won’t be easy, what with much of the planet underwater and its entire population -- which Gore’s 6.7 billion amounts to -- vying for whatever dry land remains available.

But before we pack our tents, inflatable rafts, and foreign-language dictionaries, let’s take a closer look at the green Stephen King’s figures.

Actually, if global warming were to occur; the oceans would rise from the thermal expansion of the water -- everything else being equal.* (Please note; I'm in no way trying to defend Gore. A glance at a few of my numerous posts on this topic would tell you what I think of Gore and his ilk.) * It's actually more complicated than that -- water has the unique property of expanding when it warms avove, or when it cools below 3.98*C. If it weren't for that feature, our oceans would probably be solid ice by now. If the oceans warmed, some of the water would contract; but, most of it would expand. The polar oceans might be an exception (getting smaller, overall).

Let me try that again:

I'd hate to be a party pooper, but is there an independent source that verifies that this idiot said sea levels would rise 67 meters in 10 years. This just sounds unbelievable, even for this whackjob.

See, what all of you don’t get is that it doesn’t matterhow absurd his claims are. He knows damn well it’s all bullshit but he also knoew ( just like the rest of the Dems ) that they have the general public on a string.

Most people are morons , anyone under 28 years old or so has been taught this crap since day 1 in public school. He ‘s know he’s full of it and he knows he can say the most moronic things and the sheeple will follow.
Do you not think Pelosi and Frank and Gore and Kennedy all laugh their asses off behind closed doors once the press goes home? Do you think any of them believe the stupid sh*t they come out with ?
I think most of you miss the point. He can say the sky is purple tomorrow knowing that the majority of the planet will see it too.

Look on the bright side.
It would flood most of DC.

For me, it is OK..I am on a beach, but only 12 KM from a 3100 foot mountain.

FINALLY we have a result for “global warming” that is subject to falsification. I mean a 22 foot mean rise in sea level per year over the next decade SURELY would be noticed and easily confirmed./ sarc

Archimedes proved that an object displaces its mass in water if it is less dense that water and its volume if it is more dense. As ice is less dense it will displace its mass which being water will not cause a change in sea level if it melts. This is something learned in Physics 101

How does the thawing of ice that floats on water affect sea levels in any way?

The increase in sea level that is proposed to come from global warming does not come from the melting of ice that is floating on water, but from ice that is either on land or resting on the sea floor.

Gore may say some nutty things, but somehow I doubt that an Arab website called maktoob.com is the most accurate source for what he really said this time.

That's our boy Albert! Al, the polar ice cap does not rest on land, it is a floating ice mass. When the ice in your glass of iced tea melts, does it overflow the glass? No?

Why then you idiot do you think if the polar cap melts it will raise sea levels.

“The North Pole ice cap is 40 percent gone already and could be completely and totally gone in the winter months in the next 5 to 10 years.”

OK, so the first 40% supposedly melted and the raised the sea levels, gasp, 6 inches or something, and the other 60% is going to raise it 220 feet???

I love Lord Monkton, the peerless global warming foe from the scepter'd island. Any thistle in the side of greenie Prince Charles (he who talks to plants) is a friend of mine.

Unfortunately, former Ambassador Bolton with whom I generally agree, was trying to throw cold water over m'lord at several turns on Beck's show yesterday....albeit it in a civil way.

Bolton was pooh-poohing Monkton's warnings about world government with taxation powers slipping in through things like global treaties on the environment.

Monkton is absolutely correct in his prediction.

A lot of SE Florida is less than 20’ above sea level. When doing the given Gore-math would mean by next Thanksgiving everything down that way would be underwater. Would that be a bad thing? /sarc
