A couple of years ago a pack of coyotes invaded a very professionally built and handled breeding kennel in British Columbia and killed every male on the property. It was a bizarre happening -- the place had been there for about 50 years (the owner, now deceased was one of the primary breeders in the breed in both the US and Canada) without any type of such an invasion.

I think there is probably another factor involved in these Canadian incidents. I have had two of my breeding taken away by coyotes over the years, but never the wholesale slaughter as in this incident in Canada.

My prayers for this young entertainer, I have been to her pages and listened to her very pleasant music (my preference in genres).

"My prayers for this young entertainer

And mine, too. Very sad.

Coyotes are a fact of life here in the Sacramento area, especially when we were in the middle of that building boom a few years ago.

But three years ago, husband and I were sitting out on the back patio having a drink and onto our patio walks a coyote pup, maybe 10 weeks old. Not acting at all aggressive -- a sad little thing looking for his momma with big sorry eyes. Husband jumped up and chased it out (rightly so), but for the next couple of days & nights I could hear him howling for his parents who were likely already dead or gone. I don't think that he survived -- he was too young to hunt.

I know that he would grow up to be a pet killer, and chasing him off was the kinder option, but I've often thought about him.
