Parsy, get a garden hose and run it from your auto to the box where the mice live, then turn on the ignition and kill them with carbon monoxide. They have fleas which will give you bubonic plague, and you will die, or have a large hospital bill. Either of which will be costly.

They appeared healthy with no fleas. My dtr used to have gerbils so mice don’t bother me. When they get a little older I’ll set the mouse box out. They jump in to get the food, but its too high for them to jump out. I take them to the woods or Mouse Mountain and turn them loose. I messed up and left some bird seed in a box by the dryer and that is what attracted them. Even varmints have a right to live. But you’re right. No good deed goes unpunished when you do it for people but animals have never bothered me.
