Almost every single religion looks strange and cultish when viewed from the outside, yet, for someone on the inside of said religion, it seems perfectly sane and logical. Viewing things from the inside, one has trouble understanding how people view it differently from the outside. It is all a matter of perspective.

(I’m not LDS, this is just a general statement).

That really isn’t true. I’m non-religous, but I see islam and mormonism as ‘standing out’ as particularly bizarre.

I kind of see what you are saying, but how then can we not ‘accept’islamicable peoples. including the jihadists?

maybe it has to do with religions that go ‘out of their way’ to convert or deal with outsiders...

Well said. The unknowing might look at, say, Catholic Communion, whereby through the power of transubstantiation, the bread and wine are transformed into the actual blood and body of Christ, and conclude that Christians are cannibals.
