There is no doubt that polygamy is an ancient custom. So was slavery. It was my ancestors that decided that neither fit into their vision of what this new thing, this new Republic, should be. Polygamy was fairly common on the frontier but the focus of it was with the Latter Day Saints. It took some doing but the Mormons came around and have been exemplary. There were times that we just had to look the other way and not just with the Mormons. If you were a six-toed thumper from East Tennessee, you were allowed two wives so long as both were your sisters.

I’ve been to deepest, darkest Utah and I saw polygamy. Lots of it. Most of it was among the elderly. Women who had lost their husbands and were banded with other women in the same situation and tied to one man. It wasn’t marriage as we would think of it. There are some obstacles even double doses of Viagra and prayer won’t help. It was more of a spiritual union by old folks living out the remainder of their lives with like-minded folk in service to the Lord. Anywhere else it would be called a prayer circle. I have no objection to that and would, in fact, encourage it.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Maybe so...

But not among the Christians.....

Polygamy is not a Christian “prayer circle”
