210,000
That's the amount of money that Conservative party nominee Doug Hoffman raised online in the last seven days in support of his candidacy in the special election in New York's 23rd district, according to a source close to the campaign.
The source would not speculate on what Hoffman's total raised number would be when reports are filed with the Federal Election by midnight tonight. But, his Internet haul almost certainly means he will outdistance state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, the Republican nominee, who, party strategists acknowledge, will post a very weak report. (Hoffman, Scozzafava nor Democrat Bill Owens had filed their reports at press time.)
Hoffman's startling success in raising cash on the web suggests -- as has been made clear in tea party protests and town halls over the spring and summer -- that the conservative base of the Republican party is energized and voting with their feet and their wallets (and often against the picks of the party establishment).
Hoffman's candidacy was born out of a belief that Scozzafava was insufficiently conservative and not entirely committed to the core principles of the party.
It's the same impetus behind Kentucky businessman Rand Paul's Senate bid against establishment pick Trey Grayson, the Secretary of State, and the same basic philosophical divide animating Republican candidates to run or consider primary challenges against nationally favored Senate candidates in New Hampshire, Florida and Colorado.

I sent my contribution to Hoffman this morning.

From what I hear, she would fit in perfectly as a TOTUS-reader czar, except she probably pays her taxes.
A Hoffman win would be very, very interesting to say the least. Many are saying this race and the Gubernatorial races in VA and NJ are a referendum on the commies who lied his way into our White House.
I am in VA and things are looking great for McDonnell — keeping my fingers crossed.
What’s the web address?
There was a thread earlier this week that projected him a distant 3rd in the money list, with the Democrat far in advance. But Scozzafava’s money was coming from wealthy Republicans giving the $1000 cap. Grassroots support could prove very interesting.
She may not even pay her taxes: http://www.observer.com/5119/scozzafava-still-distancing-herself-brothers-company-despite-being-investor
I’ve been out of work for over a year and a half. Just got a job and start next week. I sent him $20. Kick out the commies and LIARS (Liberals impersonating a Republican).
Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).
Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.
Scozzafava also holds these positions:
Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.
This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.
There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the house who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year. Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

I support Doug Hoffman for Congress (PayPal). Please, spread the word about this important election on November 3, 2009 in New York’s 23rd congressional district. |
Yes, web address so I can contribute!
I sent $200 in last night.
Hoffman’s candidacy was born out of a belief that Scozzafava was insufficiently conservative and not entirely committed to the core principles of the party.
Not entirely committed to the core principles?
Exactly which core conservative principles does she believe in at all? She’s just dying to become the House version of Olympia Snowe.
We need conservatives to challenge all of the RINO’s.
Check post #9 (or my sig)

Just sent in $20. It’s not much but if everyone does it we can send a powerful message.
I donated to Club for Growth.....I figure that counts for something.
“Exactly which core conservative principles does she believe in at all?”
Considering she was a member of THE ACORN PARTY until last year, you tell me?
We need to pick the battles we can actually win. I believe Hoffman can win this race. I hope I am right. Even putting Scozzafava (Scuzzobama?) in third place would be worthwhile in this district.

But right now, immediately after this NY23 race, in the next 6 to 8 weeks, is the time that TEA Partiers and 9-12ers need to be finding their candidates for the Primaries next year. Cleaning up the Republican party is still a better approach than going third party. And the filing deadlines and petition requirements mean that candidates need to be selected very soon. Time is running out.
There will be a few districts like NY23, where they have historically elected conservatives by wide margins. If in those districts you have a situation where two conservatives split the vote in the primary, or open primary crossovers result in a less than conservative candidate for the Republicans, then, if there is a strong chance of victory, a third party conservative might be a good idea.
But mostly, third party candidates are going to lead to Democrats. That is what is happening in New Jersey for Governor.

I sent Doug $20 earlier in the week. Next week I will send Doug another $20. I will do what I can to keep the RNC from picking out RINO’s to run. Screw the RNC.
