Brewster, George Messer, Alisha Burton, Karen Burton, Linnie Burton, Jr. and Danny Combs all pleaded guilty to crime related to Williams' accusations. Why did they plead guilty if "it was all a lie"?

My guess is, Lawyers are expensive. Guaranteed, you ain't going to find a pro bono lawyer to defend a “hate crime” against a “poor downtrodden former slave”. However pro bono civil rights attorneys and advocates would be climbing over each other to help the “poor downtrodden former slave” sue the evil white oppressors.

Why did they plead guilty if "it was all a lie"?What Tupelo said plus they were probably offered a plea deal that made pleading innocent in a she said / he said a real crap shoot. Hate crime adders and all that.
She should face the same jeopardy. Start with letting her serve the combined time served to date by her victims.

From what I’m reading, these folks were mostly criminal low-lifes even before this incident, so they may have realized that there was no way they were going to be found not guilty.

Probably because they know the criminal justice system isn’t necessarily just.
