Two-thirds of Californians dislike Congress, Field Poll shows

WASHINGTON – Californians have an overwhelmingly negative view of Congress, with two of every three voters disapproving of its performance, according to the latest Field Poll.

Only 23 percent said they approve of the way Congress is conducting itself. It's the highest disapproval rate since 1996.

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco doesn't fare much better, with more Californians rating her negatively than positively. About one in three – or 34 percent – gave her good marks, while nearly half – 44 percent – said they disapprove of her performance. That's a sharp turnaround from March, when 48 percent approved and 35 percent disapproved.

The poll found that more Californians approved than disapproved of the state's Democratic senators, Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, continuing a pattern of recent years.

Feinstein received a job approval rating of 46 percent, while 35 percent disapproved. And 44 percent approved of Boxer's performance, while 37 percent disapproved.

But Feinstein's job approval rating is her lowest since 1996, and Boxer's disapproval rating is its highest since 1995.

Field Poll director Mark DiCamillo said the poll reflects the partisan fights in Washington.

"It's a more partisan environment now than it was earlier in the year

Am I reading this chart correctly that the DEMS give 51% approval to Pelousy? Can she retain her seat then?

When people say they dislike congress, they mean everyone else’s elected officials. They’ll keep sending their own senator/congresscritter back, term after term.

So why do Californians keep inflicting the plague on the rest of the US?

Pelosi’s approval rating could be 11% and she’d still get reelected. No Republican will ever take that district, and she has enough power in her own party to ensure there won’t be a significant primary challenge.

Like every other person polled about congress, its always the others persons congressman they don’t like. Their congressman is doing just fine, and they will vote for them again in 2010.

But this poll was taken all over the state and only her district votes for her. What are the voters in her district polling?

The people I know who are out of work are now... STILL out of work.

Kalifornia liberal voters are sick uneducated nitwits that lack the basic intelligence to realize they have been had. They, for 30 years or so, have been brainwashed by the communists sick educators that to become slaves of the state is the best for them. Fools, and will never grow up until they get slapped in the face with the reality that shi! is shi!. Right now they can't smell the shi!. (Sorry, but this bunch has ruined the biggest State in the Union.)

Yet they will continue to vote for the a-s clowns they have representing them.

If (non-Freeper) Californians are too stupid to "get" a representative Republic, its no surprise that they prefer "rule by referendum and recall."

Cali's political system has been a mess for some time, largely due to all of the above.
