The Search for the Wikipedia Libelist
American Thinker ^ | Oct. 15, 2009 | Ralph Alter

Posted on 10/15/2009 6:37:27 PM PDT by Al B.

Thanks to an intrepid blogger with the tag Trapdoc posting a letter to Mark Steyn, the search for the Wikipedia Libelist responsible for damaging posts to the Rush Limbaugh account has been narrowed to the IP address of a New York City law firm:

"The quotes were added by a user with the IP address of 69.64.213.146. This address has been used mostly to make changes to the article about Rush, but also Karl Rove, Sean Hannity,.. James Dobson and Sara Palin from 2005 until earlier this year.

"While others have noted this in various forums, no one seems to have made the connection that this IP address is used as a gateway by the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP (see here, for example) that all users from that IP address come from the pbwt.com domain.)"

The firm provides a wide array of legal services with a broad spectrum of politically correct causes served:

"It is one of the first major firms in New York City to elect a woman as managing partner. In addition to its Diversity Committee, a group of Patterson Belknap attorneys formed PAC -- Patterson Attorneys of Color -- to assist with the enhancement of workplace diversity and the recruitment, retention and promotion of attorneys of color. Another group, Out at Patterson, focuses on issues relevant to the firm's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals, and Women Lawyers at Patterson (WLAP) focuses on women's issues."

Considering Rush's militant political incorrectness, there may be a large number of potentially culpable attorneys and/or staffers to choose from. However, a forensic data retrieval technician should surely be able to narrow the focus and identify the likely poster. Perhaps Rush can enlist the aid of PBWT alumni, Rudy Giuliani, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau or firm partner, Edward F. Cox, (son-in-law of former President, Richard M. Nixon) in his search for justice.

There is no question that Mr. Limbaugh has been damaged by the salacious quotes added to his Wikipedia profile and their dissemination in the PC-stream media. Hope this helps, Rush.

You know they say the only cure for a lawyer is another lawyer.....

Oh, it gets better:

11:45, 23 August 2009 Pathoschild (talk | contribs) changed block settings for 69.64.213.146 (talk) with an expiry time of indefinite (anon. only, account creation blocked) ‎ (Blocked by Swatjester as an IP of Eleemosynary; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/block?page=User:Eleemosynary)

So, the IP address has been blocked because it's the IP address of Eleemosynary, who apparently continued to post under other names -- as he is suspected of "sock puppetry".

Well, If the team actually gets better, and makes a PROFIT, Limbaugh has a case, huh?

Besides, slander and libel do not require loss of actual money amounts.

Rush is a public figure, so he would have to prove “malice” or that those involved KNEW it was false, at the time, but that should not be hard to do.

Rush should sue Wikpedia directly. They are responsible for their content. They are not a blog where people post their opinions. They are supposedly a “fact based” resource.

If they cannot verify all submissions, and have a trail to anyone who seeks to use the site to post Libelous attacks, they should be shut down until they can review and verify all information before it is posted.

Remember, BOR made an issue about FR not reviewing comments that he thought were Hate Speech before they were posted. Nothing like selective memory to make your day.

Weren’t they posted several years ago? Statute of limitations?

Statute of limitations runs from the date the injury was known or should have been known. That might be last week.

Nonsense!
It is a LAW FIRM, and a powerful one at that.
Their IP address is being used for underhanded purposes.
They deserve to be put on notice.
They should know that the world knows what scum they are!

But we don’t know for sure they did it (just an accusation we are building from), also, if this is in a building, it may be on a shared network. For example, I have an office in Dallas that co-locates several companies. There are common areas with open wifi (break rooms, shared conference rooms). This may not be this specific law firm but someone in a company who shares the building. It also may not be a direct employee but an IT service employee, etc.

Most likely you are right, but I’m not much on jumping the gun until we know for sure.

It is a left wing organization, in any event.
They represent Soros, it seems, who is ALSO involved in this NFL deal.
The SAME IP address is linked to several other malicious libel attacks, it seems.
So?
Who cares about being “sure” of anything?
I am not sending out a press release making wild or false charges.
I am ACCUSING A LAW FIRM, DIRECTLY, of being involved in very questionable conduct.
There is NO CRIME in my accusation.
There is NO LIBEL in my accusation.

(I believe my accusation to be TRUE, and that is the ONLY defense I need, in a court of law!)

Ok, it is working again!

It was just swamped by 100 FReepers clicking on it. They probably get more hits tonight than in the past month.

Can you track that type of info (where people have surfed) about anyone? That’s scary! I’m glad you’re on our side!

I posted part of this article at little green footballs with a link to American Thinker and my post was deleted and I was banned.

I find it very amusing.

Johnson hates Limbaugh so much that he doesn’t even care if the quotes are accurate. Which he pretty much said in his own comments.

I think when he went over to the dark side that he lost his mind.
