I do not have an ‘inside track’, I was not there, I do not know anyone involved in this case. So, let’s throw that out first.
Teacher: I hear you are an Eagle Scout
Kid: Yes, I am
Teacher: So, are you ‘Always prepared’?
Kid: Yes, I try to be. I even carry a small survival kit in my car, everywhere I go, just in case.
Teacher: Really? What do you have in your survival kit?
So, if the teacher knows that the knife is there, what does he do? Make a rationale, mature decision based upon the actual knife, the perceived threat from this student - or go on a power trip to show that kid ‘Who is Boss’?
I can also imagine that the cause of the raucous is a liberal who knows the kid wants to go to West Point and deliberately set him up. One of the academies forgave someone that I know of underage drinking and allowed him to enter. Maybe West Point should allow this honorable student in, too.
