The great global warming scare is over — it is well past its peak, very much a spent force, sputtering in fits and starts to a whimpering end. You may not know this yet. Or rather, you may know it but don’t want to acknowledge it until every one else does, and that won’t happen until the press, much of which also knows it, formally acknowledges it.
I know that the global warming scare is over but for the shouting because that’s what the polls show, at least those in the U.S., where unlike Canada the public is polled extensively on global warming. Most Americans don’t blame humans for climate change — they consider global warming to be a natural phenomenon. Even when the polls showed the public believed man was responsible for global warming, the public didn’t take the scare seriously. When asked to rank global warming’s importance compared to numerous other concerns — unemployment, trade, health care, poverty, crime, and education among them — global warming came in dead last. Fewer than 1% chose global warming as scare-worthy.
The informed members of the media read those polls and know the global warming scare is over, too. Andrew Revkin, The New York Times reporter entrusted with the global warming scare beat, has for months lamented “the public’s waning interest in global warming.” His colleague at The Washington Post, Andrew Freedman, does his best to revive public fear, and to get politicians to act, by urging experts to up their hype .......

That there are 10 times as many polar bears as 50 years ago?
It is not disputed by the eco-nuts. Overpopulation is their big problem I thinks.
There was a question and answer session and a man replied to him that there are MORE Polar bears now. This ensued after a number of back and forths. They cut the mans mike off!
If I used canned soup (I don't, I make from scratch) that can would get cleaned and go into my gardening supplies.
It's not that I'm trying to save the planet, hell, I want increased CO2 so plants grow better. I'm just very, very frugal.

The amount of carbon in the atmosphere takes up, if you represent entire atmosphere as a football field, 3 inches, a 3-inch line. The growth is from 1 inch. Waiting 20 years isn't going to make much of a difference. Maybe someone else can give a more precise representation of the carbon currently in the atmosphere.

In 150 years, man-made C in the atmosphere (actually tropospheric C) has risen from 280 to 377 ppm.

If you spent around 4 to 6 hours of your life REALLY trying to understand what a doubling of current C levels will result in, you'd be alarmed. Not an 'alarmist', just alarmed. The best paleoclimatic analog we have for a doubling of C (which our kids will probably experience) existed in the Eocene. I'll let you discover for yourself what went down at this point in geologic time. Try UNDER A GREEN SKY by Ward for a primer.

The Global Warming scare hasn’t come close to a zenith yet for me. We have too many clowns in DC bent on destroying our country to solve this non-problem When they are safely sent out to pasture, the scare will be over for me.

I get the Frugality thing.
I am still working full time so I admit to being lazy sometimes.
There was a time when I was first married that I tried to get my Wife to do the Frugality thing:
Each person in the household was to have their own Plate, Bowl, Cup and Silver. If they didn’t wash their own it would be dirty for the next meal. That didn’t fly.
So everyone just grabbed a clean one out of the Cupboard and threw their dirty stuff in the Sink. Let Mom wash it.
If things get real bad after I retire I could see having a cupboard full of Mason jars and soup cans for glasses.
Saving the resource of the metal in the can is good, But What is the cost of washing a can with potable water to just put it in the recycling? As long as we have plenty of water, I guess its OK.

The world leaders who are meeting at the United Nations to discuss climate change on Tuesday, are faced with an intricate challenge: building momentum for an international climate treaty at a time when global temperatures have been stable for a decade and may even drop in the next few years.
