PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL---Our news partners at the Sun Sentinel report:
U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, who represents Broward and Palm Beach counties, plans to resign from Congress.
He plans to announce his plans at a news conference Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Boca Raton.
A Democratic source with knowledge of Wexler's plans said he is likely to take a public policy job that deals with the Middle East.
Wexler, a senior member of the House Foreign Relations Committee, has long been involved in issues involving Israel and Turkey.
Criminy, seeing that Wexler is Jewish, and his Palm Beach district is Jewish.....I just hope this is not the same wealthy Palm Beach affinity crowd that got wiped out investing with Madoff (sniffle).
So how did Wexler pull of a seventh term win with 66.2 percent, you might ask? Luckily, Wexler's ardent supporters----"Democrats Living in Israel"----flew in to cast votes for him. This effort to keep Wexler in Congress by flying in planeloads of Democrats did not involve US tax dollars. Perish the thought.
Course, Wexler's new job at The Middle East Center no doubt does involve US tax dollars.
Did Cong Wexler vote for (or did he earmark) appropriations for The Middle East Center?
Weird coincidences are usually not so weird after all. Wexler has got to be dirty.
Doesn’t his quitting put the dems below 60? And NY requires a special election to replace him. That will take some time.

Emanuel owes his investment banking job to Bruce Wasserstein, a high-rolling Wall Street dealmaker who was one of Clinton's most active fundraisers in the financial community.
Emanuel's two biggest deals involved politically connected utilities: one representing Commonwealth Edison's corporate parent in a merger and the other representing a buyer in the purchase of a home security business from telecom giant SBC Communications. Shortly afterward, SBC hired as its president William Daley, the commerce secretary of the former Clinton administration and the brother of Chicago's mayor.
He gained other commissions by pitching such major Democratic donors as S. Daniel Abraham , the press-shy billionaire and former owner of Slim-Fast, and Bernard Schwartz, a defense industrialist who was a central figure in a scandal over the export of missile technology to China. Taken together with their wives, the two men were the party's largest individual donors in the last presidential election, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan research group.
I think Wexler did something to embarrass the ‘rats. He must have accidentally paid his taxes or maybe his daughter had a baby instead of an abortion or maybe he turned down Barney Frank’s proposal for an intimate night that would have included handcuffs, a tarp, canola oil and gerbils.

I remember his sudden appearance in Florida, only because I despised the little left wing runt.
Veery interesting. It sounds like these people are the clean-up crew for whatever scandal Wexler is involved in. Whenever a democrat politician or appointee gets in trouble..the wealthy dem donors get ‘the call’ to do ‘clean up’ and ‘job offers’. Van Jones and Edwards come to mind. Who was the wealthy dem donor that paid off Edwards mistress? I can’t remember his name now.

So it is likely that Rahmbo set this ‘job’ up to get Wexler out of the way. Why? I don’t see Wexler resigning just because he wants to ‘spend more time with his family’ or ‘make more money’. Something is up. Too bad our so called press is corrupted, it might be interesting to find out what is going on here. Lots of possibilities.
Looks like Wexler was taking trips sponsored by Center for Middle East Peace & Economic Cooperation and Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association about the same time period as when Rahm was hauling in the big bucks.

Rep. Robert Wexler, a Democrat from Delray Beach, led local lawmakers in international travel paid for by outside groups last year, according to their annual financial disclosures.
Wexler, a senior member of the House International Relations Committee, reported taking two trips to Germany and one to Taiwan. They were paid for by the International Management and Development Institute, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung - a nonprofit institution that promotes the values of social democracy - and the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association .
In addition to his congressional salary, Wexler reported assets of between $1,000 and $15,000 and no liabilities. The assets and liabilities do not include properties that are not income-generating.

Pres Clinton in 2000 named Rahm to the Freddie Mac Board. Rahm was paid $31,060 in 2000 and $231,655 in 2001---of course, Rahm paid all his taxes. During Emanuel's tenure, Freddie Mac was plagued with scandals involving campaign contributions and accounting irregularities. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) later accused the Freddie Mac board of having "failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention." Emanuel resigned from the board in 2001 when he ran for Congress.
Rahm leaned heavily upon the industry as 2006 Dem Congressional Campaign Committee Chair. Financial industry donors contributed more than $5.8M to the Dem committee, behind only retirees.

RAHM HAS GIVEN OUT THIS VERSION During the 1991 Gulf War, Israel was asked by the United States not to militarily respond to the Scud missiles that Iraq was hurling at them. Israel did not .........and Rahm was in Israel to assist them in not responding militarily.
Rahm volunteered for “Sar’el”——a three-week Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) training program (like US boot camp) where civilians are trained to assist the Israeli military. Civilians like Rahm lived on an IDF military base to get the proper training. A civilian volunteer, Rahm assisted the IDF during the 1991 Gulf War, repairing truck brakes in one of Israel’s northern bases. Rham Emanuel has been trained to organize a civilian security force at “Sar’el”---the IDF training program for civilians.
FRIGHTENING STATEMENT Obama has stated that Rahm tells him "everything he needs to know about Israel." Rahm's father was an Israeli who was part of the underground resistance movement under the British Mandate.
ANOTHER RAHM VERSION Rahm Emmanuel for many years went around claiming that he’d lost a finger in actions against Israel's enemy when he was in a tank. Now if Rahm fought in the military of foreign government, that would negate his American citizenship.
Obaba can settle these viscious Islamic smears ONCE AND FOR ALL. Obaba should obtain copies of Rahm's “Sar’el” paychecks to demonstrate that payments to Rahm were NOT coming out of the IDF military budget. Cause if they did, that would wipeout Rahm's US citizenship (bawl) when they serve in the military of a foreign government).
Rahm Emanuel today is a dual Israeli-American citizen. It is not clear whether a dual citizen is permitted to serve in a high level US govt job that makes policy decisions for Americans.
