Roman Polanski is 'feeling depressed' two weeks after his arrest in Switzerland to face U.S. extradition for a 1977 case involving the rape of a 13-year-old girl, according to his lawyer. Herve Temime told the Sonntag newspaper, one of two newspapers he talked to after visiting the Oscar-winning director in a Zurich prison: 'I found him to be tired and depressed.' 'Roman Polanski, who is 76, seemed very dejected when I visited him," he told another newspaper, NZZ am Sonntag. "Polanski was in an unsettled state of mind." Polanski pleaded guilty in Los Angeles to having sex with a 13

He must feel better knowing that he won the nobel pp for his work with children, no?

He will be fine. It’s not really prison prison.

Why can’t we just hang child rapists? Seriously — why on Earth are such people permitted to live? I’d honestly like to know.

When he gets here put him in the same cell as Bernie Madoff. Fame to shame as their endgame.

I like when the article says-

"Polanski was in an unsettled state of mind..."

Yeah, I think that's a safe bet.

I wonder if he’s depressed, or just depressed-depressed

From SNL last night.

Polanski would be a 9 on the bad wiener scale, or a European 4.

It’s my take on this whole mess, that the girl’s mom used poor judgment. This all could have been prevented, if she had simply adopted the policy of always being on the scene when her minor daughter was going to be filmed or photographed.

These shoots are somewhat suspect from the get go. Their (sometimes) clothing optional nature isn’t a secret. Putting a thirteen year old girl in the position of having to outwit an adult, was an example of very poor judgment.

The problem I have with the death penalty for this, is that it is impossible to prove whether this was consensual. Did she agree at any point, then change her mind? Did he force her from the get-go?

Putting a thirteen year old girl in the position of being able to destroy a man’s life in that manner is too much power. Let’s say she came on to him and he gave in because he really wanted to anyway. Should that garner him the death penalty? (I’ll be honest with you, in the interest of a sound sociological environment for kids to grow up in, I believe that is actually debatable.) I have mixed thoughts on it.

The real kicker for me is that Polanski sodomized the girl. You can say whatever you want about consent, there should be some things an adult man would never do with a kid. This was just depraved behavior. For me any petting or straight sex would be over the line, but certainly I think reasoned people can agree that anal sex with a newbie is just sick.

It’s obvious, that straight sex just wasn’t enough for this guy. Above and beyond what already angers me about this, that really seals this guy’s fate for me.

“Roman Polanski is ‘depressed’, says his lawyer after prison visit”

Nothing that couldn’t be taken care of if his lawyer was a 13-year-old female.

Yes, evidently that's what Gerald Amirault did to the children in his family's daycare center. Or at least that's how the coached children witnesses testified. You know the "magic room"and the clown with magic wands inserted into the children's rectums. Yes, "that's what angers me about this", but then what the hell does my anger mean to the rest of the world, or what should it mean? Diddly!

Here's what the victim had to say -

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/polanskicover1.html

"Two weeks after Polanski plied her with Champagne and a Quaalude, Samantha Gailey appeared before an L.A. grand jury and recalled Polanski's predatory behavior in a Mulholland Canyon home owned by Jack Nicholson."

Disgusting details included.....

He confessed?

Really?

I believe that our laws stem from public opinion.

It is important what you think, and that you express it publicly.

If the idiots who adore Polanski are going to be vocal to defend him, then we should be twice as vocal in our calls for justice.

You’re right, unfortunately my and our anger did absolutely nothing to help Gerald Amirault and his family, or so many other victims of this child abuse hysteria and paranoia, which goes on to this day, as I can testify from my experiences in public places. If you’re an American male, you are an unindicted sexual predator. Don’t believe me? Try to help a lost child at a shopping center!

The McMartins could tell us both a thing or two.

Look, I agree with your premise. I must say though that in this instance Polanski actually admitted to his crime. It was when he thought he might not get away with it without serious jail time, that he fled.

I don’t like mixing a serious admitted crime, with cases where charges are clearly trumped up.

On threads where that is being addressed, you and I are going to be in harmony with each other.

Will someone help me on this.

This guy diddled a little girl. Whether she was “into it” or not is irrelevant. 13 year olds are little girls. Not women. They have no idea what this is all about.

This guy ran away from the court.

This guy makes really crappy movies.

What is the big frackin’ deal?

Bring him home, sentence him and be done with it.

OK, cool, what bothers and angers me here is the lack of perspective on this whole issue, and anyone trying to bring it being accused of excusing Polanski. These threads are about nothing but striking moralistic poses, issuing condemnations, and posting the curious links to the titilating testimony of the girl, straight, you might say out of a cheapo porno novel. I was suspended once (actually censored for a couple of days) for bringing such things up, so I’d better shuddup.
