I consider myself one of those disgruntled registered voters who prefers to consider himself a conservative rather than a Republican. In fact, I had been leaning toward throwing my support behind candidates from lesser-known third parties. That changed today after a conservative friend of mine shared a copy of an e-mail he sent recently to a local representative of a conservative, third-party group seeking candidates to run against Democrats and Republicans in future elections.

My firm conviction at this point is that there would be no better aid to the radical leftists who are now actively engaged in destroying the Constitution than to divide up the forces that oppose them. If we unite in an effort to defeat them, it can be accomplished, not easily, but it is possible. Divided, it is not possible.
Therefore, adding another name or party to the ballot could mean defeat for our side in the coming elections. The elections in 2010 are not of the ordinary type. Much more depends on the outcome than is usual, namely the preservation of The United States and its culture.
I would recommend that all elements who are against the Democratic Partys current policies consider the absolute necessity of establishing a coordinated and united front to win the 2010 elections. Support for conservative candidates in the primaries is legitimate and necessary; however, whatever the outcome, that cannot be continued through the general election campaign if we want to first stop, then change, the policies coming from the current group of radical, left wing office holders.
If the objective is to defeat politicians who are currently engaged in destroying the Constitution, those who want to change this will, by dividing the ballot, be aiding those they want to defeat. Divide et impera (Divide and conquer Julius Caesar!) Should we continue to advocate splitting our forces, we will be guilty of disregarding the most basic lessons of history. Have we learned nothing in 2000 years?
I implore you to reconsider your support of candidates from third parties (i.e., Constitution, Libertarian, Reform et al), because we simply cannot afford to split the conservative voting block and allow the liberals to win another election cycle.
If this message makes sense to you, share it with like-minded individuals who, like me, were leaning toward third-party candidates.
If Conservatives/Libertarians cannot get organized enough to take back the GOP, they certainly are never going to be organized enough to establish a winning 3rd party.
well said!
No votes for RINOs ever again.
Sorry, Taxed Enough Already.
Thank You my sentiments also. The point is to get the DUMs as far from the Law making process as possible. We do not have the luxury of a wasted vote right now.
THINK TWICE before nominating another juanabee kennedy or a willard.

Every election is the ‘last best hope’, ie 2004.
There will never be a ‘right’ time to go ‘right’. Republicans will make their case, and then stab you in the back when elected.
I’d rather have my throat cut from someone looking me in the eye, ie a Democrat.
Sorry but I changed my registration to independent two weeks ago. And if Sarah starts a Conservative Party or does not get the Republican nomination in ‘12 then the RINOs can go pound sand.
I supported Republicans for more than a decade and look at where it got us. A pox on both their houses!
The problem is that a number of Republicans are not among the "forces that oppose them" but rather are either on the same side as those who are "actively engaged in destroying the Constitution" or are enablers of those who are.
I’m not voting for any “progressive” republicans. Its up to the party to serve me, not the other way around.
This might have some weight if the Progressives in the Republican Party didn’t own the Republican Leadership Council and get to say where the money goes. In other words the progressives own the “Republican” Brand. The actual results you get are the same: a statist march to socialism and globalism.

Palin/Bachmann 2012!! (Republican or otherwise)
United we stand, divided we fall
Truer words were never spoken.
Didn’t realize I selected “breaking news”. My bad.
The GOP, like the DEMs, are basically monopolies. They have so little in common in principle, you can't consider them in competition. They are selling different products. Apples and oranges. And they both like it that way. They use the threat of the other party to keep their voters on the plantation. No matter how bad they are, to their base, the opposition is worse. And so they get to be unaccountable.
I don't see how to change that. It seems that you have to try to make a difference in the primaries, but even there, voters have differing philosophies. They want to pick a winner, and compromise on principle. To me, the primaries is the one chance to not compromise, but I think that's a minority view.
In the end, we get what we deserve, unfortunately. I really don't see any solution. I think we're basically screwed.
Like I have said many times, RINOs, the ball is in your court, nominate another RINO for POTUS and you can color me third party.
Nice sentiment, but entirely too late. This mattered in 2006 and 2008, but “real conservatives” didn’t want to hear it....
Now, instead of a slow slide towards socialism, we will get it out of the way in 2 years! Government run healthcare, crippling energy taxes, astronomical deficits, open borders and corruption at the highest levels is here!
Oh well...
