Can you think of a single head of state, ever, that merited such an honor after only eight months in that position?
“President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, in a surprise pick from the Norwegian Nobel Committee”
“By his friends, ye shall know him.” It takes a commie to know a commie.
I've never heard of Emile Cammaerts -- tho' I love Chesterton.
Can you supply more details?
(...also, do you like Hilaire Belloc?)
Cheers!
Belloc rocks! - he was really a fearless polemicist, although I must admit I’ve read a lot less of him than I have of Chesterton. But they’re so closely linked philosophically (hence the existence of “Chesterbelloc” as legit terminology) that it’s hard to like one and not the other.
Cammaerts: it’s been so long since I posted that comment I’ve forgotten exactly who he was - I believe he was a Chesterton scholar or commentator or some such thing. I wanted to make sure I got the Chesterton quote right, and as I looked into it, I found out the exact words I’d always thought were Chesterton’s were really Cammaerts, in a paraphrase of a point made by GKC.
Hope that’s of some value - I’m flattered you chased down that ancient post!
