Do subs even *do* 6 month cruisesIt depends. If you are on a crappy boat you stay out until something breaks. If you are on a good boat you cover your missions and the missions of the boats that broke. I was at sea 220 days one year.

Lightweight. 307 days underway or deployed my first year on my first boat. Didn't get much better after that, to say nothing of the shipyard.
