President Barack Obama has refused to meet the Dalai Lama in Washington this week in a move to curry favour with the Chinese.
The decision came after China stepped up a campaign urging nations to shun the Tibetan spiritual leader.
It means Mr Obama will become the first president not to welcome the Nobel peace prize winner to the White House since the Dalai Lama began visiting Washington in 1991.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama lives currently in India as a guest of the Indian Government, which too has often scurried to curry (pun intended) favor with Beijing but has never stooped so low as to give him up to the chicoms.
And yet, Barak's admin lists India on the religious freedom watchlist?
I came to know recently that Italy officially recognises only the 3 Abrahamic religions denying permission to the others (primarily Indic faiths) to assemble and worship freely in Italy. Yet, Italy finds no mention on the said watchlist, last I heard.
Hypocrisy has become real cheap n easy indeed.
Obama wants us to merge with Communist China. That is, subvert us to Communism and repress us.
Of course he will sell out the Dalai Lama and anyone else that believes in “freedom” and not the violent, repressive “collective.”
But the more the Dalai is rejected on the leadership level, the more he will be embraced by those who value freedom.
You will be assimilated into the collective....resistance is futile
I hope you merely forgot the sarc tag behind that.
What do you mean by that?
True leadership. What courage.
Kind of like meeting with dozens of congressmen and women to help him decide what to do about Afghanistan.
NO LEADERSHIP, NO COURAGE
Just a pathetic TOTUS
The Chinese will view it as an act of submission by Bambi and they will get bolder in their relations with the US.
I guess Bambi is aiming to be the weakest president in history, it’s the only thing he’s succeeding at.
How much has the Dalai Lama lent Obama lately? That’s your answer - zero is groveling for Chinese money.
