Eight American soldiers and two Afghans have been killed in an attack on two outposts in remote eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A tribal militia launched the attack from a mosque and a nearby village in Nuristan, one of the most dangerous regions of Afghanistan, the U.S. military said in a statement. The Americans and Afghans repelled the attack and "inflicted heavy enemy casualties," the statement said.

In the U.S. statement, Col. Randy George described it as "a complex attack in a difficult area." The Taliban claimed responsibility.

I understand your pride. :) And I also understand that our troops are indeed "doing what they want to do" and they would soundly reject the cries of "bring them home."

What they want to hear is "Help them WIN."

We start by retaking Congress next year, and then we get a competent President in the White House in 2012.

(A Republican Congress in 2010 is an imperative!)

There is a HUGH movement here in Nevada to “Get Rid of Reid.” There are six people ready to help unseat him and stir up the House and Senate.

His sorry-a$$ed son Rory is running, too. The ONLY Dem!!

I send my grandson a box every month but I’d like to be able to do it every week.

He is ultra special because I got to hold him before his mom did!!! I can’t believe he’s now fighting a war.

Is he in Afghanistan or Iraq? I'll bet he loves those packages from Grandma! God bless you all!

And thanks for working to get rid of Dingy Reid. Yikes. He's vermin.

Oh I much rather spread doom and gloom.

Your apparently one of those, “If you don’t agree with me” kinda folks.

We as a nation have been here before. Once our enemy, now our friend, back to our enemy once again.

8 years and counting.....it’s time to let the Iraqi’s control their destiny.

We kicked the crap out of the Afghans then on to Iraq, now, magically the Afghan theater is running amock once again.

I don’t buy it. There are reasons above what all y’all believe as democracy installation.

When will it ever end? How many wars, conflicts, police actions do we have to be involved in?

One freakin crisis after another. I think this is by design.

Sorry you can’t or refuse to delve a lil deeper into to root.

With such sophisticated weaponary, we can rain an enormous amount of destruction on these cave dwellers.

There is very little reason to escalate this conflict with thousands of troops on the ground.

But...But, if we are to put boots on the ground, go in with all we have and stop pussy footing around.

My fear is with such weak leaders in Washington, it will just cause greater U.S. casualties.

I’m not against kickin the $h!t out of these mussies, I’m against all the PC bull crap were seeing in D.C.

I’d rather pull’em out than see more wounded or killed because of weak leadership.

I’m glad you know me so well that you can tell what I’m thinking just by a few sentences.

Save your clap-trap for someone who cares.

With your opinions, you could undermine us from the inside with hardly any effort. Have you thought about running for office?

He is in Afghanistan, right in the thick of things. I’m just holding my breath over this last action.

And saying lots of prayers...

>>Don’t be a coward, servantboy<<

Well I can tell your a real prick.

Go to Brook Army Medical Center sometime and take a look at what the living wounded have to suffer.

I can’t stand your type. Spouting off your mouth.

Most people hear of all the dead service members and aquess about the ultimate sacrifice of the several thousand who gave their life.

Times the death toll by ten.

Go look at all the boys laying there with limbs missing, half their heads shot off, burned so bad.....never freakin mind.

It’s easy to run your mouth till you visit the wounded.

It’s easy to sit in your living room or behind your monitor and keyboard and tout how patriotic you are.

Give me a break. Get off your @ss and visit an Army hospital and see for yourself the horrors.

You go attacking another as cowardly or unpatriotic for not agreeing with your sensibilities. I’ve been there, I’ve seen it, I’ve attempted to help the wounded best I can.

So piss off.

I will be praying with you. And so will many others.

May God place a hedge of protection around him and keep him safe until he returns home. And may God give comfort to his family who waits for him with uncertainty. God is faithful, Monkey Face!

I’d be happy to undermine your absolute sophmoric kool-aid drinking patriotism.

Go visit the wounded and tell’em how patriotic you are.

My son earned a bronze star in Iraq, boy. You haven't got a clue about sacrifice.

While I thank you for visiting our wounded troops (if you truly are), I would remind you that your bashing their service and sacrifice and considering it wasteful, and passing along your negativity to them, could be doing them further harm.

I also remember your boasting to me once (still makes me laugh) that YOU would be here to protect ME from the enemy. Now here on this thread you admit that you would run. And you admit that you would leave Afghanistan to become a breeding ground for terror attacks against the US again.

You "spout off" with the best of them, boy. Look at yourself in the mirror and see what you accuse others of being.

3 Oct 2009 - The head of the British Army, has issued a wake-up call to the public by warning of the “terrifying prospect” of a defeat in Afghanistan.
Having spent the last five years more focused on Afghanistan than anything else, I’m convinced it is most certainly doable. We all know if we get this wrong there are all sort of implications not just for this generation but for our children’s generation.”

The general criticised plans put forward by some members of President Obama’s administration – notably those of Vice-president Joe Biden, who is believed to support the view that Nato should reduce troop number in Afghanistan and concentrate on counter-terrorist operations using special forces. Sir David said this was a strategy which would not work.

The general’s comments follow those of Gen McChrystal, who last week said....
