Rods from God

Orbital systems that depart orbit are unarmed with high density penetrating tips and are steered to impact at over 15,000 mph.

Basically anything that can withstand reentry heat and can still be steered can be a more effective bombardment weapon.

I wonder if they could put those on a Trident. Talk about never seeing it coming. You might pick up a sat launch with enough time to do something about it. But submarine based Rods from the Gods is probably the nastiest thing for the worlds tyrants.

Love the Rods from God concept. Having a tungsten telephone pole dropped on your facility can really ruin your day.

Didnt we put one into orbit yesterday?? No one is saying what the mission is but I’m reasonably positive they could bring that bad boy down anywhere on earth. The rest of the world is gonna treat it as if this is the intent.

Do you think we possess the accuracy to have these units hit on top of a prior bore? That might increase the penetration of the successive hit as the rock would have lost its structure. OTOH the apparent viscosity might increase in a thixotropic medium.

Interesting problem.
