10 foot tsunami also hit Samoa: http://news.bnonews.com/upti less than a minute ago
Good question. Any know the population is there or know what assets we have there?
A tsunami that hit New Guinea in 1998 had waves of possibly up to 30 feet, and at least 3,000 people were killed. Any time the waves get over ten feet, it can get bad. Knee-deep water can be enough to sweep you away, especially when it is filled with debris and is moving back to the ocean.
I have spoken to my wife in Apia Capital of Samoa, she and my 3 kids are fine, after being terrified when the house shook for nearly 5 mins. Popping windows doors etc.
Severe after shocks, local radio reporting several villages have been hit
Thanks for the backup calex, but bygones are bygones, and this even looks like it could be bad. Channeling flame-energy to prayers!
YOU ok?
Problem is there is damage to come. Hours of damage. All we can do is pray.
Thank God they’re alright!
Coconutt2000 is our Freeper in Samoa.
me too we live in Apia i am in australia at the moment
I think US American goverment should give them 50 thousand dollars to help with the damages.
Three children have been “killed by the waves” says Rua McCamey, Tua Saseve’s sister. A school and media buildings are said to be underwater.
Unconfirmed radio reports suggest that two villages in Samoa have also been hit by a tsunami. The villages affected are Siumu and Lotofago.
Any effect there in Australia, Daddy?
Thanks for the personal report .
Glad your wife & kids are fine :)
Glad they are okay! Please share any updates you get.
Be safe. Keep us posted.
Thanks for letting us know - still carrying all y’all in our prayers.
They are on the other side of the island from Apia,
