Palin has several years to see whether she is the next Margaret Thatcher or Jean Kirkpatrick. So far, I am impressed with her reaganesque qualities. We need someone who is a leader of the conservative movement, not someone who toadies to every whim of the press or society. Right now I believe Palin is doing the right thing. Sitting in the background and saying accurate statements like “death panels” to rile up up and infuriate the leftist-marxists that control our media and White House. She needs to build up her gravitas (how I hate that word!) like she did in Hongkong last week criticizing the FEDS role in the economic meltdown.
Agreed. Even though I like Sarah and am politically on the same page, she has been severely wounded - not killed, just severely wounded. She wasn't ready to be a VP nominee but McCain asked her and I believe she responded to the call of duty to country because that's the way she is.
It remains to be seen whether she can change people's minds. But even if she does not run for higher office, she can be a VERY effective proponent for conservative values and can very effectively lob grenades from the sidelines, forcing liberals to put up a defense or run for cover.
I agree completely with your comments. Sarah is doing just fine. The Hong Kong speech set a good pattern, substantive and well received by a sophisticated audience. The future lies ahead and she will be in it.
