Susan Atkins claimed to be born again. If she truly accepted Christ as her LORD and Saviour she is now in heaven. That's how it works. Christ died and paid for every sin we have ever committed with His precious and holy blood shed for us. All we can do is accept Him and the free gift of eternal salvation. If Susan did this, she is now in heaven forevermore.

Jhn 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Rom 3:23-28 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
