Charles Manson follower Susan Atkins, who admitted killing actress Sharon Tate 40 years ago, has died. She was 61.
California Department of Corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton said Atkins, who suffered from brain cancer, had been in hospice care in recent days. Thornton said Atkins died late Thursday night at a prison hospital in Chowchilla where she had been moved when she became ill.
Early this month, she lost her final bid for parole.

The state should have executed her years ago; she deserved the maximum punishment.
Despite the deeds of the deceased I simply cannot grave dance. I feel our Lord will have her relive her evils and then accept her back into His All Loving embrace. To my mind He made us all in His image and we can never be separate from Him no matter how hard we might try to sever the tie while we’re here.
I figure I’ll take a lot of grief for my type of faith, but it can’t be shaken.
I agree.
However, the evidence suggests that she didn't really express regret and repent fully. If I were in her situation I would go to every parole hearing and just say that I am sorry for what I did and that I deserve to stay in jail for the rest of my life for what I did.
"What's spending the rest of my life in prison compared to the person I killed?" and "After my death, I will be free for all eternity anyway" is how I would expect someone truly changed to look at it.
She apparently did not do that, or at least it doesn't look that way to me as evidenced by her last parole hearings.
She was in jail for committing murder, it's not like she was innocent or in jail for her faith. Rather than seeking release, she should have spent the remainder of her life in prison preparing to meet her maker and the pregnant woman she murdered after she died.
The last words she spoke in public at the September hearing were to say in unison with her husband: "My God is an amazing God."
I did not know that. I am assuming by her saying making amends to the victims and families that she did apologize to the families? If so, I hope she was sincere.

except her legs!!!!
Amen! I am sickened the way the media reports her death. They portray it as if we should feel sorry for her. What do they think a "life sentence" means. It's not a health oriented sentence.
The bitch is dead. Good.
Now that's tough!
Yup. That was what prompted me to post the pic, for the comments it would elicit.
That’s really not very sanitary.
Seems appropriate.
In God’s view the utter filthiness of her sins
is no different than mine.
True. Very few begin to fathom how vile we all are in God's holy, perfect and pure eyes. If more understood this self pride would be obliterated.
