DALLAS - Dallas FBI agents arrested a Jordanian citizen Thursday afternoon for attempting to bomb a skyscraper in Downtown Dallas.
According to the bureau, 19-year-old Mosam Maher Husein Smadi was arrested and charged for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Smadi had been under continuous FBI surveillance and was arrested after he allegedly placed and tried to detonate an inactive car bomb near Fountain Place, a 60-story glass office tower located at 1445 Ross Avenue, the FBI said.
“Why would members of an al-Qaida sleeper cell attempt to talk this “terrorist” out of using violence?”
To demonstrate later in court, that they *did not* encourage him to do something that he actually did not want to do, avoiding an entrapment defense. Fine work on their part. Now they can prove that the act was completely his desire.
“because the local sheriff is blowing their concocted terrorist bomb plans.”
The FBI didn’t “concoct” this. A guy was advertising his Jihad plans. Their operation merely proved he was seriously intending to do what he said and not just a loud mouth. When he pressed the button on what he thought was a car bomb, the FBI saved Texan lives. Had they not done what they did, he would have eventually found a real bomb from someone besides the FBI, or bought a gun and walked into a mall, etc,,,
If a terrorist is under surveillance, and gets locked up for drivers license and insurance ticket, i HOPE the feds spring him, AND keep following him. Maybe he will lead them to others like him.
Except using *that* many teams, all over the country, at numerous airports,,*vastly* increases the chances that the plan gets compromised. They arent stupid. And 9/11 cost us more money than we will know. The DOW dropped 25%, and except for radiation, NYC might as well have had a tiny tactical nuke dropped on lower Manhattan.

That don't fly here friend.
We're not talking about the housewife that had never been in trouble, that suddenly wanted her husband killed for whatever.
Were talking about alleged members of an al-Qaida sleeper cell, you know, people that kill babies and blow innocent people up by the hundreds....lol.
Are you suggesting the suspect was so stupid, he actually believed al-Qaida sleeper cells wanted him to avoid violence?
Their training camps are a waste of time, effort and money. They attract attention and provide a way of gathering intel on them and locating them, their sponsors and their money sources. They can't possibly win in any battlefield situation outside of the odd circumstance. Our ROEs are their biggest advantage.
If they had hit us the way I described, and been quietly invisible within their own societies (and ours), they could have followed up with a different strategy. One that had been pre-planned and employed shortly thereafter.
I would give the Crips or MS-13 gangs more credit for intelligent strategy and deployment.
Oh sure...lol it was the 19 year old and his grand plan...This is the same guy that was announcing his grand killing plans on the Internet right?
Tell me, what kind of terrorist advertises his plans on the Internet?
My hunch is I think they found themselves a mental case, and the Feds went with it.... In fact, this guy was so easy, the "terrorist cell" offered him an out by not committing "violent" acts...And this fool was too stupid to figure out that terrorist aren't into non-violence....lol
Too funny!
Any jihadist worthy of 72 virgins would not have detonated via cell phone.
No. They were discovered after they were airborne and nobody put the pieces together, no one stopped them. Having separate cells there was nothing to connect one team to another, no time to and no time to find the "missing" planes. If they had had crews on every plane in the air at that one time in the morning most would have succeeded. It would have just increased the confusion.
And 9/11 cost us more money than we will know.
What makes you think I am any less aware of how much it cost than you are? I know it cost us immensely. My point was that similar strikes in every other major U.S. city would have increased that cost exponentially and irrecoverably.
It also would have destroyed confidence in our government instead of unifying it. Congress would have reflected that by breaking down into squabbling groups. Not right vs left groups but groups of hawks, groups of appeasement weenies and groups of "let's calm down and assess this" weenies. Those groups would have manifested in both the Dem and Republican Parties and no decisions would have been possible. Public confidence would then drop even further. The President would have been neutered by a Congress and country in emotional chaos.
They had one shot, they were stupid not to try it. Praise be that Muslims are morons.
I can hear the al-Qaida terrorist cell now, "Are you sure you wouldn't rather have a bake sale instead of blowing up the building to make your point?"
That sounds credible..
(Read #41)
These guys even trained at our flight schools...I’d say they had little fear of their plan being detected, which clearly did not happen.
Had they had that many more teams going to flight schools that could have been a problem. Although it is not very apparent that it would have been.
One other thing, I think it's safe to say that any real terrorist, here in America on a secret mission of mass murder and mayhem, would not be driving around without a drivers license and insurance. (After posting threats on the Internet)
As I mentioned earlier, I think they found themselves a 19 year old mental case or wannabe junior terrorist, and they set him up like bowling pins, and threw a strike.
I notice that no one remarked on my observation that they never gave details about busted terror plots during the Bush administration. The press (with help from the Feds) even tried to convince us that obvious cases of Sudden Jihadi Syndrome had nothing to do with jihad.
Apparently there is a new need now to advertise some successes in the WoT.
Er, human contingencies ... or whatever we're supposed to call it now.
FYI
Mmmm! Mmmm! Mmmm!
Maher Husein Smadi
...And Obama’s now cutting down on Border Patrol.
Bless his heart..call the ACLU...pay his bond..Poor baby.
Amen
TX terror ping.
