Has there been any country in history - anytime or anywhere - where worshpful songs like to this to the nation’s current leader are a sign of a healthy democracy? Maybe there were congratulatory songs to Washington as the leader of the forces of the Revolution, but Obama ain’t no Washington.

The trend, if anything, would be to take a secular tune and use it for a newly written sacred (or more reverent) text. For example, “Jesus Loves the Little Children” used the tune of “Tramp, Tramp, Tramp” [the boys are marching], and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” used the tune of “John Brown’s Body”.

There weren’t. Not then, not ever. He would have forbidden it.

One of the battle cries of the American War for Independence was, “No King but King Jesus!”

I’ll venture they didn’t teach you THAT in the multi-culti, commie indoctrination day camps.
