President Shimon Peres is emerging as a key player in U.S. President Barack Obamas announcement last week that he is scrapping a defense shield missile system in Poland.
The Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv suggested that Peres convinced Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to swing a deal by which the United States would scrap the system and Moscow would back stiffer economic sanctions against Iran.

Certainly, the ‘secret’ trip by Netenyahu must have meant some significant diplomacy with Russia ... but all is speculation.
There are only two ways Iran will be stopped.
Either the Iranian people replace their government with something that isn't trying to bring about the end of the world (12th Imam) or someone is going to have to take out Iran's nuclear facilities. As far as taking them out, that isn't going to be Obama. He wants to be loved and the peace and love crowd won't have any of that...
If one of those two things doesn't happen Iran is going to get the bomb.
Sanctions have never worked and never will. Liberal pipe dreams up in smoke. The mullahs are having a good laugh. If Bibi is making deals with Russia he is a fool.
I have seen just the opposite interpretation of the Russian meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, coupled with the missile defense shield deal. A number of sources are saying that Obama offered the missile defense shield deal as a trade off for Russia looking the other way when Israel goes in shortly to take out Iran’s nuke capabilities. The “clandestine” trip by the Israeli PM was to fill the Russians in on the how and when of the attack.
Peres is always on the side of Israeli suicide.
In your scenario, one problem lies at any credibility to the truth and that problem is Obama himself. He can’t bring himself to do the right thing in Afghanistan, so how can he even support this thinking without wetting his pants on an hourly basis?
I call it wishful thinking at best.
“Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”
The Iran issue is two-fold:
1) Stopping the nuke program
2) Changing the regime
Point 1 has priority because regime change can happen now or one, five, ten years down the road, but the nuke issue is pressing. Israel and the US need to disable the facilities needed for the nuclear cycle and for good measure take out key regime persons and facilities.
Point 2 is then something that can happen with strong international backing for a coup or revolution (which Obama is not giving). The recent events show that there is the will in the people to topple the regime, but they lack the means yet.
A nuclear disarmed mullah regime could be easier contained for several years, unlike one with a arsenal to blackmail the world with.
You commented wisely, it is only “wishful thinking” With the reputation of Russia to keep its word, they have hidden agendas we dont know about.......wait and see. Isreal need to get rid of Peres...and later Isreal will have to deal with Iran.....Obama.

This story is BS.
No way Peres or Israel would promise or keep such a pledge.
Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon was asked by Reuters if that comment by Israeli President Shimon Peres, as reported on Sunday by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, was a guarantee there would be no Israeli strike on Iran.
Ayalon replied: “It is certainly not a guarantee.
“I don’t think that, with all due respect, the Russian president is authorised to speak for Israel and certainly we have not taken any option off the table.”
Echoing that, the chief-of-staff of Israel’s armed forces, Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi, later told Army Radio when pressed on whether Israel could attack Iran: “Israel has the right to defend itself and all options are on the table”
