CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- No more Cracker Barrel restaurants ever for one Georgia man. The company has banned the man accused of beating a mother at one of its restaurants from all of its locations for life. Investigators in Clayton County said Troy West beat Tasha Hill at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Morrow while yelling racial slurs after he nearly hit her 7-year-old daughter while opening the restaurant's door. Cracker Barrel Bans Suspect From Restaurant For Life The beating is leading some state lawmakers to consider pushing for a Georgia Hate Crime Law. "It's past time, but there again, Georgia seems to be kind of at the end of coming on board with things that are of a progressive mode," said State Sen. Gail Buckner. The FBI is investigating if it will file federal hate crime charges in the case. West was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and cruelty to children in the first degree. He is currently out on $5,000 bond. A hearing has been set for Sept. 24 in Clayton County.
I agree, something is missing. But I would like you to share with the rest of us what the woman could have possibly done (what's missing) to justifiably provoke a man to savagely beat a woman and continue to do so while she was bleeding on the floor.
Georgia should put him on a chain gang separating salt from water in the Gulf of Mexico aboard an inflatable toy raft for a month about 200 miles off the coast.
Disgusting....Ok, so what is your favorite restaurant? I am always curious when someone makes a strong statement as to what their ideal replace would be...I like CB, but not too often. It’s a great place when you are on the road.

Yes there are overblown and questionable incidences that the media drones on and on about... there are also a few angry racists who don't need a lot of motive to beat a black woman because she dared speak to him.

Yep, it is really disgusting to pull into their parking lot and not be able to find a parking place...
We are frequently on prolonged trips and nave found that Cracker Barrel is one of the few places you can get a decent dose of vegetables.
A private business can set their own rules for within their establishments.
Maybe not a “hate” crime, but a closely related category called “stupid abusive violent jerk” crime.
This sounds “unprovoked” to me. While I am not a big fan of “hate crime” laws, everyone should be punished based on their actions and not their thoughts. Thoughts seem to get a lot of guilty people off the hook by our “blind” justice system. Tax evation anyone?

I can’t name any restaurant chain right off that I like but let me tell you about a meal that we were served at Cracker Barrel. My husband ordered roast beef. It was blue, thats right the meat was blue and he was not able to chew it. I forgot what I ordered but it was bad too. When we asked about the blue meat they didn’t know what it was. We were told that it comes already prepared and all they do is warm it and serve. After looking at all the junk for sale from China we decided the food came from China too.
There was a black comedian back in the early 90s (I don’t think it was Chris Rock, but it might have been) who was talking about “Hate Crimes”.
He said “If a man is beating me, I’m pretty sure he hates me. But does it make it any worse that he is beating me because I’m black? Shouldn’t I be more scared of the guy who just beats me for no reason? The guy who beats me because I’m black at least has a reason to hate me. The guy who hates me for no reason... he’s the guy I want locked up longer. Who knows what he will do for no reason!”

I just wanted to hear the whole story before I joined the lynch mob. According to some other posts, the woman politely asked him to watch out for her daughter and he attacked her.
So, he’s an a**hole and deserves whatever he gets. If I had been there, I would have pulled him off her myself and called the cops.
I was just concerned that she might have possibly “got up in his face” and started the racist name-calling, but only his crimes were being reported. I have a healthy distrust of any claims of “racism” these days.
We don’t need no stinkin hate crime law to handle this redneck. Just give him 5 years in a cell with a big black man who knows what he did. For that matter it could be a big white man, he would get the job done.

Fair assessment. I was a little ahead of you on knowning some of the circumstances. I knew there was a tape. But short of self defense, I find no excuse for this animals actions and would have liked to instead hear about how long he would be eating through a straw when other Georgians jumped to this lady’s defense.
I hope the other patrons who witnessed this are ashamed. I’d like to see a list of those that stood by and did nothing along with a picture of them on the news just to shame them. (I know that is wrong but it makes me sick)
