Daily Kos/R2000 is assumed to be biased in favor of the Dems to begin with so I think most of us would find that as a more credible poll. Rasmussen has actually shown Deeds in the lead before, way back in June when they had Deeds leading 47-41%. Maybe Rasmussen is picking up something no one else sees or maybe he’s the outlier. I tend to think that the race was bound to tighten and it’s better that it be now when McDonnell can still fight back and get the momentum back. The two issues he should stick with are taxes and transportation. I thought one of the best moments of the debate was when he held up a blank piece of paper and called it Deeds’ transportation plan. Brilliant stuff. Deeds’ bumbling response to the tax question after the debate will also hurt him. The other telling moment occurred when Deeds declined to align himself with Obama. This in a state that Obama won pretty easily last year and which has elected two Democrats to the Senate along with a couple new Democratic House members.

This wouldn’t be the first time a Kos poll showed a Republican farther ahead than other polls. I recall a poll of NC last after Palin’s RNC speech that showed McCain ahead by something like 15%. It was an outlier and any real lead McCain may have had evaporated in about as week.
